Good IPA's

I need some suggestions on some good IPA's to try out. I'm looking for heavy taste (7%-10% ABV), but no specific flavor or balance of hops/wheat or anything.

So far I love Golden Monkey, Three Philosophers, and Dogfish Head 90 Minute Brew.

I know you Pubbers must drink some heavy beers :lol:

Gotta check it out, thanks for the recommendation. Anybody else use the above website to rate beers before you try them? I find it pretty accurate.

Golden Monkey is actually a Belgian Tripel style ale.

Palate Wrecker is one of my favorites and this season's was just released.

Freshness is key with IPAs. Stone dates their Enjoy By's just 35 after bottling for a reason.

Stone IPA and Ruination; Firestone Walker Union Jack and Double Jack; Bell's Two Hearted Ale; Founders Centennial and All Day IPA; Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, IPA and Lil Sumpin Sumpin are some of my favorites available all year long. And I seriously can't stress it enough, freshness. I base my IPA purchases entirely on how fresh they are. I have dozens of favorites, but whichever is freshest always tastes the best to me.

Most will prefer all styles as fresh as possible, with an exception being big (8%+) beers that aren't dry hopped (IPAs), which will become much less boozy. Bottle conditioned wilds/bretts/Belgians which are packaged with live yeast are the other exception. The yeast flavors will become stronger over time. That said, I prefer those fresh too 9/10 times, and thus the vast majority of beers in my fridge are under 5 weeks old.

Delicious dark sugared and dry hopped barleywine. As you know it has all of those dank juicy hop notes of an IPA since it is dry hopped.

The lagunitas IPA has been my every day beer for a while, easy to come by. If you happen to be in California, I'd recommend tap it's ipa, as well as Russian river's Pliny and anything by cellarmaker. Also, while not an IPA, Lagunitas sucks is probably my favorite right now.

Fat Tire Belgo, Sierra Nevada torpedo, Stone IPA & Ruination IPA, Fat Tire Ranger, Lagunitas IPA & Maximus, Dogfishhead 60min & 90min IPA.

I didn't like the New Belgium Ranger too much. I like most of New Belgium's wheat beers a lot though.

If you're in Schlafly's distribution (see http://seekabrew.com/distro/index.html ), I just poured one from a 12/08 batch.

Super dank and heavy passion fruit flavors thanks to being hopped and dry hopped with solely the Aussie hops Galaxy and Topaz.

Jesus now I have a huge list to try! And props to joe666 for posting the Dogfish Head 90 minute - it is easily my favorite. That Core Brewing Company IPA looks delicious too - such a dark color!

Oh by the way Dust Bunny, I LOVE Belgians too. Westmalle Tripel is absolutely AMAZING. So I guess I just like heavy beers, not just IPAs. Have you tried the Westvleteren 12? I hear they only sell it at the monastery!

Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin is great as well.

CBC Bodhi, but it's local.

Fathead if you can find any.

Pliny the Elder (good luck).

Anything from 3 Floyds (good luck).

Six Point Resin or High Res shouldn't be very hard to find and both are phenomenal.

A lot of the standards have been mentioned, and they are all good. Look up beer competitions and see what does well. See if you can get your grubby little hands on rarer releases.

I had the Dogfish 120 minute for the first time last week (illegal in Ohio), Holy fuck. It was too much. Also had a Goose Island Bourbon County stout (also illegal here) and that was fucking amazing.

I know this must be hard, but Joe/DustBunny, if you could recommend ONE IPA/Belgian for me to try, what would it be? I definitely am going to try to go down the list of what everyone has posted so far, but I'd love to start with the best :laugh:
