how many people are still into shpongle?

i remember when i first joined the shroomery, everyone was going apeshit for shpongle. i was just curious is a lot of people are still really into him/them (not sure which, honestly) or if he/they sort of faded away...

i still have to sit down and listen to a shpongle album.

Shpongle rocks, check out Hallucinogen... it was shpongle before the name change. Simon Posford is pretty cool, don't you agree?
elftrance has some good songs set to flash
there is also a flash about a repressed memory of anothe rlife (starts out with a fly flying around)

yeah ive heard more hallucinogen than i have shpongle.

im not really into goa/psy-trance but some of it can definitely be cool.

I found the Shroomery while it was going apeshit, it's how I found Shpongle. and Shpongle turned me onto Hallucinogen, OTT, Younger Brother, and a plethora of Goa as a result. I still love Shpongle, it needs a rest before listening to again 'cause I overplayed it a bit. Can't wait for the new album, even if it is just a remix album. So was Hallucinogen in Dub, and listen to that shit!

EDIT:  I should also drop the name Boards of Canada. I've found that other shpongle fans appreciate them because of their fondness for depth in music.

I love shpongle!!

There is no other music that compares.

These days I listen to alot more new music but I always have Shpongle playing sometime during the week.

Goa trance is amazing. I have a dj friend who introduced me to Hallucinogen & Shpongle (Simon Posfold & Raja Jam). I listened to goa on one of my first shroom trips, and I was hooked.

Simon's music tends to take me on journey. If i let it, the harmony creates and controls my visuals which in turn sends me into some of the most hardcore trips of my life. Don't you love it when he throws in some slamming doors and people coughing just to fuk wit cha? :wink:

I have terrifying news, Shpongle fans - I lost my Tales of the Inexpressible CD!

Shpongle should come with some Listening Instructions lol because it demands a lot more attention than many people are willing to give to music.. Its almost like watching a good psychedelic movie or something lol

I still listen to hours of Hallucinogen, Shpongle and other Simon Posford projects every time I take DXM. I originally learned of Shpongle from a link on the Shroomery to the "Flashback" Flash movie, which has DMT as the background music.

Shpongle rules. :grin:

I guess one of the guys did some Celtic Cross songs. I have only been able to find two so far (now that I think of it, my keyboardist has them and he now has DSL). "Hicksville" just flat out kicks ass. Its got the Shpongle touch, most definitely.

I'd recommend checking out Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection as well. Infected Mushroom has a new double disc cd out, some of the songs are just beyond... :grin: They aren't quite like Shpongle, more trance than ambience, but still worth a psychadelic listen.

Oh ja, check out Pleaidians. Same as Ethnica, I think. The first cd is amazing. I believe they are all available for download on www.mp3.com, as well. My favourite is Asterope..

BTW, somebody had said that Hallucinogen was Shpongle before the name-change - I must disagree - Shpongle is Simon Posford (who is Hallucinogen) ALONG with the flute-player and consultant Raja Ram. Shpongle minus Raja Ram and + harder beats = Hallucinogen.
