Pose coyly with the books barely covering your nipples so we have some to imagination.

I find I read articles on the internet...browse forums boards and all sorts of places.  I spend an average of 6 hours a day reading.

Ive actually been thinking of barring myself from the internet so I start reading books again.

At one point I kept track and one year I read 75, the next 50, then I found a girlfriend so it slowed a bit.  Still it must be well into the hundreds by this point, and still going.  I have a travel job so I take one with me on every trip.

This thread reminds me I got started on the game of thrones series, bought the whole set, and haven't gotten past the first book yet. Now I'm going to have to juggle that with Wheel of Time.

It's my favorite fantasy series in terms of the books (though I admittedly haven't read very much fantasy). It can be a dry read at times, but I find it totally sucks me in as well. I finished the fourth a while back, excellent read. Fair warning, the second book is the dryest (that I've read), so it can take a while to close it out. After the first half of the second book, stuff picks up pace tremendously, and doesn't really stop through the third and fourth books.

Read the hobin hobb series :yesnod:
I want to read Game of thrones too but I might end up watching the series. That blonde is too awesome and everyone dying  . If you truely want something dry, try the books from Ken follet (and laugh at his sex scenes but if you're a history freak you'll get a boner nontheless)

If anyone can suggest science fiction (or "non-fiction") it's the only genre I haven't dabbled with and through the years space exploration has become somewhat of an obsession

That I even remember those book lol

I'm not sure how many books I've read?

But I've always liked books since I was a kid.

They are a good way to learn new words
and how to properly spell them as well.

Cheers all.

You mean Daenerys Targaryen? She is the most perfect looking female I've ever seen. Jeez. I had my hair that color for a while even, I love that silver-white blonde. Gah.

I count 80 items on my Kindle alone.  At some point I'll go through my bookshelf and see how many I've read there.  Then I'll see if I can recall how many books I've checked out of the library.

I didn't really like Kafka, i thought it was a mental masturbation (but i didnt read metamorphose, i read The castle). Like, you understood what was his point after the 2 first chapters but he kept rambling and rambling .

However i liked most of the authors that you listed. Concerning Margaret Atwood, i suggest you to read "The Handmaid's Tale" or the "Oryx and Crake" trilogy (if you like science fiction). She really is a good writer.

that's the point. there is no end. (Kafka's short stories are alot less rambling though)

some people read for different reasons. i read for the prose. i like reading the words and that's all that matters to me. everything else: story, characters, symbolism, ideas... it's all bonuses to me. there doesn't HAVE to be a point to a book, as long as the prose is good.

PS: i definitely intend on reading the trilogy and Handmaids Tale, at some point. i love Atwoods writing, at all levels. poetry, shorts, and novels, critic, she is great with all prose and poetry.

PPS: i still can't wait to read Godel Esher Bach: i keep hearing about it, and i just can't find time to read it, too many other books, but GARRRRR i need to read it.

Thousands, easily. (Hundreds, if you don't include the books read for my degree.)  Cute that you keep track.  Good work.  Keep reading!!!
