jury duty

I just got notice that my request for jury duty excusal has been granted!
Who has pulled this off and who has just put up with it? I said I needed my service dog present. Guess the courthouse doesn't like dogs.

I got off by stating that I was a student, and biased against cops in the little survey, as well as that I would let my morals affect my judgement......all of which are true.

If its a drug dealer case you're suppose to write:

"As a drug dealer myself, I would love to see the defendant go to prison because it would be an opportunity to take over his territory. I accept the offer to be part of the jury."

I told them I have a felony drug conviction, they wanted proof, I provided it.

I did jury duty once. The job I had at the time paid me to do it, so it was a nice break from work :thumbup:

I just sat in the jury pool all week. It was just a big room with about 100 people who weren't allowed any contact with the outside world while the trials were happening. I read a book, and tried to pick up the girls that were there.

A bunch of our names were called to go for jury selection, and we all went into the courtroom. The accused was already in there, a scraggly white dude in a leather trenchcoat who was on trial for coke dealing.

Our names went into a drum. A few people were called, some selected and some vetoed, and then I was called :thumbup: (I'd already decided I'd vote NG :lol:)

The crown vetoed me without even asking me any questions :lol: I guess I look like a druggie even when I'm wearing a shirt and tie

You can just be really biased when you get to the survey, But i enjoyed jury duty then again i was high in hydrocodone's the whole time.

I have jury duty on the 10th, I want to serve on the jury, I've been called
3 times for jury duty and never sat on the jury once

what's this survey shit? in the US, georgia at least, if you're registered
to vote you are registered for jury duty. what are the surveys like?


this is what I imagine it to look like

1. do you want to be on a jury?
2. guilty or not guilty?

this is what I imagine it to look like

In texas its if you have  a drivers license you're registered, The survey is held by the defense and prosecuting attorney when they use it to deiced who sits the jury. making sure they dont pick some one with a bias for the specific case.

Mine was an animal abuse case and over half the people said they would be biased against an animal abuser.

I wouldn't mind going if I could potentially help someone out of jail for a drug crime, but I'm having hand surgery this week and they wouldn't ever reimburse me for my lost time in my shop anyway since I'm a self employed lapidary artist. I can make anywhere from $50-$5000 in a day depending on what I find cutting.

I got a few letters throughout the years for jury duty, I just throw them out.  That reminds me of a saying I've heard before, something like jury duty is for people who aren't clever enough to come up with an excuse to get out of jury duty.

I personally loathe the justice system and want nothing to do with it.  What's the point in a jury when the judge ultimately can have the final say anyway?  When it ceases to be the "how much justice can you afford" system, then maybe I'll feel differently.

Had a pompous, pretentious, passive aggressive, prick inlaw who I told that to and he was like "well that's your duty as an american and you should feel ashamed for ignoring it and blah blah." :stonedjerk:

Ive been called twice, threw it in the bin first time, never heard back from them.
Second time I was in a different country when I was due to do duty and got off.

Throwing out the letters is a bad idea. Just say that you're racist in the survey or something to that effect. You can get out of it that way, but if you are called up & are a no-show, they can put a warrant out for your arrest. Jury duty isn't a privilege; it's a legal obligation unfortunately.
