I saw the galaxy in a dream.. while lucid and awake.
    #20770893 -

I joined this site after lurking for a year or so, so first off just wanted to say what up to this particular sub-forum because I figure I'll mainly post here. I'm stoked I found this site. I apologize in advance if this turns into a lengthy post, I'll try my best to make it short as possible and readable.

So I tried an energy healing session to help in my recovery from cocaine and alcohol addiction. I said fuck it why not, I keep relapsing I'm ready to try anything, especially with a daughter on the way, and everything to lose if I continue to fuck up. The guy doing it is one of my best friends who recently got discharged from the Marines, he's all into this Qi Gong and energy work now, and took me in when I was withdrawing fresh off the streets. He may have saved my life.. or at least saved me from heading into a shitty life of flying signs and train hopping, addiction and homelessness. He has my life long gratitude and I can only pray to find a way to repay him for that..

As he's doing this, whatever it was he was doing, he asked me to visualize the most beautiful thing I could imagine, a positive memory, or something that made me feel good. I visualized galaxies colliding and dancing. I could actually feel the energy work he was doing on me, my chakras, not that I completely believe the idea of chakras, I could definitely feel an electricity vibrating through my body. I went to sleep feeling relaxed and stoked on life, being sober another day, in awe of the universe and how we are all a part of this crazy thing.

That's when the voices started, which is normal for me, I always hear conversations when I'm falling asleep. It usually just pisses me off these days, it's like crossing lines on a telephone and hearing someone else's conversation. They are loud and annoying and won't shut the fuck up. This time it was a male voice, but he was talking calm and directly to me, giving me advice about something.. that's NEVER happened before. I do remember him saying I can trust him, he's not a "dream character" or a random hypnogogic audio hallucination. For some reason though I can't remember for the life of me what he went on to say.

I was still semi-awake, and began transitioning from semi-waking state to dream state. It's very rare that I actually remember falling asleep and enter directly into a dream, at this point my level of excitement that I might go lucid was very high, I just kept telling myself "go lucid, stay lucid, you can do this".

I "woke up" into the dream, and I was walking down these creaky wooden stairs into a dark basement. I was immediately stoked and tried my best to remain calm so I wouldn't wake, and when I got to the bottom of the stairs I found myself in a garage like, basement looking place looking like it's straight out of a Saw movie or something, I remember wondering why the hell my subconscious chose this environment! But I went with it anyway, looking for something to do.

There were tools and shovels on the wall, and in the middle of the room there was a workbench. I tried spinning around and saw the tools re arrange themselves as I did, there wasn't much else to do in this enclosed space. But since I was still lucid I figured lets embrace it. So I kept turning around to see if any new objects would pop up, and on the work bench I found an Ipad.. okay this dream just got a little more interesting. I played some utterly bizarre game that made no sense at all but was very fun to play and very colorful, and remember thinking how do our minds come up with this stuff?? I got excited and seeing the radiant colors on the screen encouraged me to try asking the dream if it would show me more.. and with the healing session still on my mind, I asked the dream if it would show me the universe..

IMMEDIATELY the walls of this garage/basement-like room turned into a huge HD "screen" with a galaxy spiraling within it, the colors were so beautiful and incredible I can't even describe in language what I saw.. they were so luminous and bright that I was overcome with emotion. The next part was so intense all I can say is, that it literally changed my life, my view on dreams and even waking life, and I am at a loss for words for how to describe it.. The center of the galaxy emanated rays of white light into my heart, like it was healing me or downloading information or something, and the dream just turned into a vibration in my chest and everything turned white..

That's the dream.

Although a believer in a higher power I'm somewhat spiritually agnostic, I'm not into new age kind of stuff, and my friend, a Recon Marine, is the least likely person you'd expect to be into energy work but apparently he tapped into something. Whether this was a spiritual experience or not, a connection to cosmos or the deepest levels of my subconscious mind giving me an unforgettable experience.. my inspiration to explore consciousness and connect with a universal awareness if there is one, whatever it is, has never been this high.

Was this just my mind or was it more than just a dream? I don't know shit, I'm just a recovering drug addict and my only knowledge in this consciousness/spiritual stuff is based on a few DMT trips and listening to Alan Watts and Joe Rogan podcasts. I am utterly astonished by this dream and can't stop thinking about it, and I am open to any and all perspectives and also similar experiences if you have any..

Thanks for reading!

I was wondering when you ingested DMT in relation to having this dream?

Also, I would recommend checking out the Health Recovery Center - http://healthrecovery.com. They treat addiction using medical nutrition and claim a 70% recovery rate - as compared to 25% for AA.

Thanks for the information on that- I'll definitely look into it. Addiction sucks and I wish I had just stuck to psychadelics.. that other crap is poison if you ask me. Last DMT trip was a few months ago in Alaska, and before that it had been well over two years. Ayahuasca twice several years before.

I'm just mind blown that my brain could even conjure something that beautiful up, and I was fully conscious during all of it. Not sure what to make of it, maybe it was a natural DMT release? I haven't experienced anything like that even with drugs..
