potential new snowboard buy

157 Burton Process Flying V 2014: $301 shipped.



Burton Mission EST bindings: $153 shipped. 



Any experience with these items?  This was the best bang for my buck I could find in 6 hours of googling.  Both have phenomenal reviews and it should be a significant upgrade from my circa 1995 166 wide ultra unflexible morrow.

No experience, but I'm stoked for the season to start!  I live an hour away from Mt. Hood and plan on going every Saturday that the weather is good.


The best time to buy a snowboard is after the season ends but before the summer.  But if you have to get it now to enjoy the winter so be it, right?  More important than the board and the bindings is your boots.

That is a park board?  I ride powder rather than park.  I'm too old for that shit now... :tongue:

Haha me tooooooo.  Unfortunately, when snowboard season ended last year, I dropped a shitload of money on new backpacking gear--new tent, new sleeping bag, trekking poles, etc.  As a result, I had no extra money to buy a snowboard I would not use for months.

It's an all mountain board with slight preference to park over freeride.  I want a board I can grow on and offers options to do park even though I don't really do anything there beside small boxes.  It has a great flex too which will be useful for moguls and such.  My current board turns like a carrier and flexes like a piece of wood.  I like that it's a bit slower too.  My current board has a penchant to accelerate to light speed quick and it's extremely difficult to control going that fast due to its length and flex.  Scary.  I have a pair of K2 Boa boots.  They fit well and remain tight with the boa system.  It's pretty legit.

I got a season pass for Arapahoe Basin and Keystone in CO.

I've never been a burton fan. If I were you I'd go for a last year's models libtech or gnu. Born and raised in alaska. 8+ years of boarding. Burton kind of sucks.

I like burton stuff, make sure those bindings fit into that weird ass channel locking system that burton has on that board.

I work at a ski resort, and ride a bunch myself. Ive been on a K2 and a Burton cruizer for a few years now, but never could get full mobility on the K2. I think this year im going to have to drop money on all new gear, it seems like 3 years is kind of the max for using the same stuff over a hundred plus days....

Yea a couple years ago I dropped easily 2k+ on all new gear. Replaced everything. Definitely worth the money.

Yea, I looked at the lib techs and they look nice but they are out of my price range unfortunately.  Same with gnu.

OP it's not the board but the rider. I'd look on ebay for boards and bindings I don't even know what type of bindings I have on my freestyle boards but I'm still riding the same pair of airwalk boots that I bought in 1991 as for boards Look around you can come up with some great deals on ebay .I wouldn't buy a burton that costs that much If it's that cheap it's probably crap a good board new you're lookin at 5 to 700$ retail You may be able to pick up a board that's 2 times as good a few years old for less than 200$ I paid 40.00 for my favorite race board a 157 oxygen slalom board. Yeah I mainly like hard boots but I'll never give up the airwalks till they fall off my feet.

:shrug:  I wasn't really look for the best evarrrr and my budget was kind of limited.  I looked around on craigslist and didn't really find much that wasn't beat to shit.  While I am admittedly not the greatest snowboarder, I think this will work for me much better.  I figure maybe 4 or 5 years up the road I'll upgrade again to something more nice and sell what I have.

They had some good stuff last year, I picked up a Ride Crush for like 200 or something and my friend got a Forum Manual for about the same price. We both got the boards mostly for park and play since the mountain by us (like a 25 minute drive :datass: ) has shitty slopes, but a decent park. I've also got a Gnu Park Pickle which is a good all-round board, i just dont wanna fuck it up anymore in the park. I need to pick up some new bindings tho... preferably ones that match my crush (its got a great watermelon orangy color on the underside) and i need a stomp pad that matches it too.... Shit i need new gloves this season too; mine are no longer waterproof, like at all.




but yeah, i tend to dislike burton, although my burton bindings arent too bad, only complaint is that they keep stretching so i have to adjust them every so often.

so fucking excited for the season to start

Edit: oh and that board looks sweet (im a sucker for green)
