Birch Bolete?

Habitat:
Under Trees, in grass, rich soil

Gills:
pores

Stem:
4 inches long, 1 inch diameter, white with black, scaly, solid, thick

Cap:
Diameter 2 inchwa, brown, dry, spherical, convex,

Spore print color:
printing

Bruising:
No bruising.

Other information:
Mild Smell

Yes, a Birch Bolete. Something aligned to Leccinum scabrum.

They are everywhere right now.  I know where like 10 of them are.  The ones that I did not pick are huge.

For me they're too mushy to be considered good edibles. As far as I am aware all brown capped Leccinum species are safe to eat. However Leccinum discolor can be brownish and in any case I'm not really confident enough in my statements to tell you to eat it...

They are pretty wet. I read that you should dry them then use them in soups.

I will probably not eat it.  I am pretty sure that it is a Birch Bolete, but I am still timid of self identified mushrooms.
