birch boletes, bluing?
    #20699034 -

I have been finding a assload of these and been drying them out and freezing em yada yada.  All the specimens I have found so far look very similar, I have no reason to think they are anything but birch boletes... Except.... Some are turning blue where they were cut at the base.

Guessing some kind of Indole inside, is this poisonous?  Are the blue ones a look alike?

Whats up with my shrooms?!

Leccinum scabrum has been known to occasionally blue when cut. It doesn't mean that it is toxic or anything.

Actually found a interesting article here from 2009.

I ate a shit load of these mushrooms last week some time, 2 of them had obvious bluing. No problem, not even gas.  I guess maybe it is worth a little caution if its your first time eating them.  Just to make sure you don't have a reaction.

It's just the orange ones from the rocky mountains area that seem to give problems, and only when undercooked.  The Leccinum scabrum group is safe, as is the rest of Leccinum if you cook them well.
