excellent, the movie, cast, sound track looks good, but its paul thomas anderson, obviously not gonna be bad, and great match to adapt the book. I read half of the actual book, i just couldnt get through it.. but at least i can watch the movie without knowing the ending! then again could be completely different.  ive only read the crying lot of 49 otherwise, and thought it was fantastic.. inherent vice had that same sort of weird, conspiratorial tone, but i felt it was just too much. if comparing the book with the movie, i dont know if id think phoenix fit the bill with Vice MC.. phoenix has a more serious, morose sort of vibe imo, but looks like he can pull it off.. hes got a good laid back self depricating side too.. anyway im excited for this

Who has seen this movie and should i watch it for first time on lsd? I heard it was tough to follow,  i would expect nothing less of movie based on pynchon book. Looks psychedelic though.

I still haven't seen it yet. The book isn't really that hard to follow though, it's pretty straight forward for Pynchon.

You need to read Gravity's Rainbow and Against the Day first IMO so you kind of get the hang of that pynchonian groove. Don't worry, they're not as weird and dense. Also you should eat some mushrooms and pageturn a Raymond Chandler novel or two.

Man, that post was seven months old, she's probably dead by now, RIP.

Fantastic movie. Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the greats.

I highly recommend The Master as well.

i had this in my to watch list for a few weeks, started the other night and thought i was getting into it the first 20 mins but got bored/frustrated about about 40 mins in, left it a few days a then came back and still coudn't find anything after a further 20 mins i liked with only annoyance for it so deleted it, i might try again some day though

i may look into the books mentioned though im just starting book 2 of a trilogy :smile:
