There's so much myopia about feminism being focused on "rights."  People think that if men and women have equal rights on paper, that means that we've achieved equality.  Nevermind that women's reproductive rights are under constant scrutiny, or that the wage gap is as real as ever.  Equality under the law is only a small fraction of the struggle women face.  There are all sorts of social barriers women face all the time that men just can't conceptualize.  They are sexually objectified, but their sexual agency is still stigmatized (i.e. slut-shaming).  They face sexual harassment all the time, whether it's on the street, at work, or what have you.  And yes, there are laws protecting women against sexual harassment in the office, but when it's their boss or a respected co-worker, they often choose to put up with it rather than risk losing their job or facing the condemnation of their co-workers.  Similarly with rape, we hate rapists in the abstract, but when it's someone respected in the community such as a football player or something, people choose to blame the victim for her own assault.  Women face discrimination in academia, where they are less likely to have their work recognized, particularly in the hard sciences.  Even in casual conversation, most guys don't even realize how they talk over women or ignore their opinions.  This happens even among men who claim to support feminism.  We've just been socialized so much to value men's opinions and silence women that we don't even notice when we do it.  When women do speak out, they're stigmatized as "shrill" or "bossy."

There are of course ways that patriarchy negatively impacts men as well.  Masculine gender roles emphasize strength, domination, and lack of emotion.  This means that men are not supposed to show weakness and vulnerability, which partially helps explain why suicide is more prevalent among men.  This is why feminism is all about deconstructing gender roles for both men and women.

I always thought women and men were pretty much equal by now. I mean, what's with all these chicks doing so much better in life than me.

Sexuality is another story, but I always figured we were on the same par as far as most matters.

Not talking global though, I know globally men have the advantage.
