I'm more of a fan of Frusciante, but I do own many RHCP albums. I don't agree when someone said his (Frusciante's) albums suck. Check out 'Inside of Emptiness'. It is more conventional than the stuff you might be thinking sucks.

Music is quite subjective but I personally think Mr. Bungle is cheesy and boring. I don't like RHCP either but I admire flea's basswork.

cheesy? boring? have you even listened to Bungle? or are you just trying to get away with some vague description so it sounds like you know what you are talking about?
also, Flea sucks ass at the bass. he isnt even original, it is nothing but Bootsy rip offs.

I think I wholeheartedly agree with you on this YA. I also used to be into the Chili Peppers quite a bit but somewhere around Californication I pretty much stopped giving a crap. Bloodsugarsexmajik was a really good album from what I remember (it's been a while) and they've done a whole bunch of songs that I've really enjoyed. Under the Bridge, Fight Like a Brave, Suck My Kiss, Knock Me Down, they were all really good songs but they've pretty much fallen off as far as I'm concerned. I know the last couple songs that they've done videos for really didn't move me in any way whatsoever.
Mr. Bungle, on the other hand, has always been more diversified and innovative IMO. I still listen to the album with Love Is a Fist, My Ass Is On Fire and The Girls of Porn all the time. It really never gets old to me. Of course it doesn't hurt that I was always a big fan of Faith No More and Patton's vocal range in general. I remember I used to have Disco Volante too but now I'm mad because I don't know what happened to it.
Anyway, effin' a man, good call!

All of us are animals with emotions, and certain sights and sounds push certain buttons in all of us. Its not the objective value of the art that matters, its what it does to the individual that counts. And RHCP have made millions rock out for twenty years. They fucking rock, the masses like them, that's a GOOD thing.

It is a progression. no one starts out liking the obscure bands that never got/get airplay. It takes a refining of taste and a finer appreciation. If all art is on a level playing field, then why dont you watch telletubbies and pokemon? they are just as intellectually stimulating and fulfilling as anything else you could spend your time watching.

So, you dont have any albums that you liked when you were very young that you rock out to now? Like I said before, there is a progression. 10 years ago, you were bumping Sisqo's "thong song", telling all your friends.... and generally Rawking Out to it.... would you do the same today? Would you pull out and admit that you liked Debbie Gibson when you were 8 years old? have you grown as an individual, and refined your tastes, or would you still have the same emotional attachment and awe that you did for Debbie Gibson? This is why I believe that artistic taste can be objectified to a degree. What will stick around for you for life. Are you going to feel the same way about RHCP your entire life, are you going to mature beyond your present self and look back and say "Man, I listened to some shitty music back then".... or at the very best say "Dude, play that RHCP, Im feeling nostalgic, i used to love this shit back in the day".... it still doesnt have that emotional captivation that you spoke of. I think our individual awe of certain bands of certain genres during certain periods of our life is subjective, but if you truly continue to refine your taste, you will find that Mr Bungle is a group that has produced some very exquisite art.... art that is far better than a group of shirtless heroin addicts rapping over the same tired generic funk bassline could produce. I think that most people cannot discern art appreciation and entertainment and this is where they begin to think that the music and movies they like, are really good art.... which is sad, because they are usually wrong. and I am sure some of you will say that entertainment is art.... and yes, it is, but in that sense, it is technical procedure that gives it the qualitative state. For example: Comedy. Now, jokes are entertainment. Delivery is the art. Anyone can tell this or that joke.... that isnt art. Not everyone can tell that joke and make an auditorium full of people laugh hysterically and keep the flow into the next joke. That is an art form.
if you need anymore examples, I will be happy to provide them. In case this post didnt entirely prove to you that there is an objective difference between fine art and bullshit art.

as for the beatles, they have their moments. They have some albums that I would atleast consider "non-pop-art", but they also have a good amount of listening at music.

yeah, ok, we cannot objectively say that RHCP sucks, but we can objectively say that they are nothing more than mindless entertainment of self indulgent cliches wrapped in a tremendous ego.... which IOW means you suck.
Quote:
Mr. Bungle is known to have had a bad relationship with the Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis.[2] The feud began when Kiedis saw singer Mike Patton performing with Faith No More and accused him of imitating his style. Kiedis stated “Yeah I watch that 'Epic' video, and I see him jumping up and down, rapping, and it looked like I was looking in the mirror. The thing is, I had no problem with him personally. I mean, I love 'The Real Thing,' and I liked his vocals on that record. I mean, when I heard the record I noticed subtle similarities, but when I saw that video it was like, 'Wait a second here, what the fuck?".[2] Mike Patton and Mr. Bungle took offense to Kiedis' comment, sarcastically threatening Kiedis in the press. In the early nineties, Patton met with Kiedis; the two were polite to each other and the feud seemed to have ended.[2]
However, in 1999 Mr. Bungle's album California was scheduled to be released on June 8, but their label, Warner Bros. Records, pushed it back so as not to coincide with the Red Hot Chili Peppers similarly titled album, Californication, which was to be released on the same day. This appeared to reignite the old feud with Kiedis having Mr. Bungle removed from a series of summer festivals in Europe; as the headlining act at the festivals The Chili Peppers had final word on the bands that would appear.[2][28] Patton stated “Our agent was in the process of booking these festivals, and it was becoming apparent that we'd landed some pretty good ones—one in France, another one in Holland, some big-name festivals. Turns out someone's holding a grudge! We were booted off several bills, including a really big festival in Australia, specifically because Anthony Kiedis did not want us on the bill. He threatened to pull the Chili Peppers if Mr. Bungle was on the bill. Now, rationalize that one! That's so fucking pathetic! I mean, this guy's selling a million records! We are not even a speck of dust on this guy's ass! What's the fucking problem?"[54] Trey Spruance added "We were booked, months in advance, to do eleven festival dates in Europe. Come Summer, we get a call from the three biggest of those festivals, all of them the same day, saying that we can't play, because the headlining band retains the right to hire and fire whomever they wish. We found out it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so our manager called their manager to find out what the hell was going on, and their manager was very apologetic, and said, 'We're really sorry, we want you to know this doesn't reflect the management's position, or the band's for that matter, it's Anthony Kiedis who wants this.'"[55]
As a result, Mr. Bungle parodied the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Detroit, Michigan on Halloween of 1999. Patton introduced each Mr. Bungle band member with the name of one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers before covering the songs Give It Away, Around The World, Under the Bridge and Scar Tissue, with Patton deliberately using incorrect lyrics. Mr. Bungle also satirized many of the mannerisms of the band, mocking heroin injections and on-stage antics. Kiedis responded by having them removed from the 2000 Big Day Out festival in Australia and New Zealand,[2][28] stating “I would not have given two fucks if they played with us there, but after I heard about some Halloween show where they mocked us and read another interview where Patton talked shit about us, and I was like, you know what, fuck him and fuck the whole band."[2]
The feud continued with Dunn describing the Chili Peppers on his personal webpage as "that stupid white band that does horrible cover versions of black musicians". He also criticized their bass player Flea stating "Flea, in all seriousness, really isn't that good. I mean c'mon Red Hot Chilli Peppers were vaguely interesting in the late 80s, but Christ they fucking suck, they suck".

I don't know anything of this Mr. Bungle shit. In fact, I don't even know any Mr. Bungle stuff. I do, however, enjoy the Peppers. Californication being my favorite album, because it was big around the time I would have started getting into them (and broadening my music horizons in general.) Their newest CD blows in my opinion.
