Vengeance
    #20601802 -

Do you seek revenge or let it go? I've always been the kind of person to try and walk away. Shrug it off. But it seems like lady Karma never returns the favors to those who've wronged me. I feel like vengeance is the only way to prevent future problems once people realize I don't just walk away anymore. Seems like when you show a level of humanity and civility, you just become more victimized.

Whatcha gotta say 'bout all that?

It really depends on the situation. I can let little things go but I'll never be a victim of circumstance if I can help it and if I get a shot at vengeance if someone really fucked me over, I won't think twice about doing it.

People talk about Karma, I think Vengeance is a part of Karma if there is such a concept.

You do shit to others, prepare to get shit on yourself.

That's because Karma is bullshit. (Sorry if I offend some people)

Also, why would you want Karma to return the favor to those who've wronged you? Would you rather get rewarded? Or watch someone else suffer? :strokebeard:

Ding Ding!

Pick your battles man, that's the key. Some things just aren't worth fighting about, and in these cases, "Karma" shouldn't matter, just ignore those idiots.

In other cases, no, fuck that, stand up for yourself. "Karma" isn't going to just shine down on you and bring miracles into your life for walking away from an altercation.

Vengeance is a stupid concept though, for the most part. Most people who are out to victimize are usually struggling with themselves so much that there is no need to make their pain worse, they're miserable and that's that. That being said, if someone tries pushing you around, physically, LOL, no, don't walk away.

I used to get in trouble at school all the time for not letting things go, even just a look I didn't like from some random person. Got me in trouble much too often and never proved to be worth it.

I don't know about that. Not everyone who wrongs others is sad inside. Some get a genuine kick out of being assholes. Sometimes a swift punch to the face helps teach them their wrong.

Case in point:

I think the vengeance is for more self-satisfaction but simply put, when people see that those who wronged you suffer at your hands (not literally), they'll start to get the point. Some people truly need some favors returned.

Not disagreeing with that. Like I said, it's to a certain point/extent.

That's the thing though, why do they get such a kick out of it?

It isn't just for no reason, they are lacking in some area, self esteem wise, physically or something, one way or another.

Some people will pick on a person when they around their friends, but catch them alone and they're all of a sudden "nice". Blatant insecurity built by the necessity to win the approval of others.

If a person truly gets a kick out of putting others down, then there is no way there is no reasoning behind it somewhere, even if that means mental health issues.

As for punching someone in the face, spot on, I don't disagree. Doesn't always prove to be worth in a consequential sense though, just sayin'.

I think it's retarded and immature when people pull stupid passive-aggressive shit to try and "even the score" in a lot of situations

Bottling shit up is no good. A best friend and I recently pretty much discovered we aren't friends, and this definitely played a part. I've told the story before but it's amazing what holding in your opinions will do, seriously surprised him and I didn't wind up in a fight that ended horribly. All was good, so we thought, took a 5 strip of Acid with each other one day and... words were said. :cookiemonster:

Was pretty intense knowing you pretty much lost your best friend of ten years during a trip on 5 hits like that, I've been having fears about tripping ever since this event, hence my trust bullshit. Wasn't cool man, wish we blew off steam earlier. Still, it would have ran it's course anyway. We pretty much told each other everything we couldn't stand about the other, and pretty much decided our friendship was not much more than someone to do drugs with, got pretty dark. I won't go into further detail.

I'd say it's in our nature somewhat. Think about how many times people get group hated on just on this forum. It's part of our social nature, and in a way it helps everyone to exercise their social anxieties. I'm talking about general verbal bullying, not violence. Like, when people are children, everyone seems to go through a phase of bullying to some extent. Some get the brunt of it and get a lot more than they should have to deal with, but it's often their reaction to it that prompts more. It's part of how our social exercise works, and we do it subconsciously at times to bring all parties involved up to speed.

With that said, there are some people who straggle a bit on both sides. Some people get way to into giving others shit for no apparent reason. These people haven't been told off enough by their peers or by the people they are bullying. And on the flip side of the coin there are some who don't quite learn how to handle the situation of receiving shit for no reason, and this prompts them to avoid it at all costs rather than facing it head on and exercising their responses, and makes them a bigger target to those people who haven't learned how to keep their own internal bullshit to a minimum.

If someone who develops an aggressive bully like personality gets a serious dopamine high out of doing it, and no equal amount of punishment (receiving shit themselves), then they really can't help themselves. If the people around them constantly egg them on, then it certainly doesn't help them.

I feel like if you ask most people, they might feel like they had some form of bullying happen to them at a certain age. Some earlier, some later, and some constantly and to no end.

I've been guilty of both at some point. I was never known to be a bully though, ever. I have gone through peer pressure situations like you described, and succumbed to the same ignorance that said bullies portray. So I do understand your point.

I will admit that when I did, it was usually because I was either not happy or seeking the approval and acceptance of others.

Not really disagreeing with what you're saying, but I don't think going around hitting people over any old argument is going to do much of anything for YOU. The kid could be a total bitch, press charges and now you've dug yourself into a world of shit. Pick your battles, is all I'm saying.

Oh, my swift punch to the face remark was more to say it's only deserved if someone is being physically aggressive towards you for no apparent reason. I don't think people should be punching people for verbal arguments or anything. I've never really been in a fight, I don't want to give the impression that I'm advocating violence for just anything really.

Also, on your post about you and your friend. I've had many trips like that with my best friend. Several. We have a very odd relationship when tripping that I can't say I feel when around others specifically. It's like, we are on a perfectly equal footing and constantly play some deep mind games. Sometimes things get taken the wrong way, but it's like a very emotionally invested game of chess at times. And the game is constantly played while we trip too, no matter who is around. Sometimes people catch on, other times they don't. It seems like people who are tripping with us are much more likely to catch on to the game, but then that person becomes a satellite to the game (and they'll totally play the part as well).

I can't say that's it's ever ended in us not being friends however. I think that'd be pretty shattering for me. So that sounds like a lot to deal with mentally, and I totally feel for you.
