As far as I know, yes. Though I'm pretty light-skinned, as are some family members on my mother's side. It'd be neat to look into that.

Its only $99 for the test and you get a ton of data about yourself and your family and information you supply (DNA and answers to questions) actually adds to the body of scientific knowledge. This is especially important for Africans as there is very little data from there and you might have a subtype that is not yet known which may offer a piece of the puzzle.

23andme isnt just about being personally nosy, it advances the body of knowledge of science and of the people. Information you provide, if sufficiently novel, might also help people from all over the diaspora to localize their roots.
