i don't think it will tolerate heavy freezing, meters of snow but a little snow i know it takes.
it likes full sun.

How is this stuff?

Does it give you as much of a "jolt" as caffeine in coffee?

How is the taste?

Do you prepare it traditionally using the gourd and that special straw whose name escapes me right now? (Bambilla, or something to that effect?)

a few gourds can prevent you from sleeping all night long, no shit.
tastes good, as long as it's made with hot water. =)
in some places people use cold water (acceptable) or milk (urck), traditionally.
and doesn't has the caffeine related side effects (like fucking your stomach and such).
you gotta prepare a gourd of it, baggies won't take you anywhere.

I know you'll hate hearing me say this...but...

I brew it in a coffee maker, turns out great.

Maybe when you fly my way you can show me the authentic preparation of this great beverage!

hey, josh has his own western prep for mate, i think it's worth sharing it here josh! it doesn't offends the traditions in any ways...
i bet it's equally effective, but on a well prepared gourd you don't eat a piece of herb.

the man: mate is a tree, usually trimmed (harvested) to stay low, to make further harvests easier. think of it in terms of a ficus tree or something... a bushy tree.
i had a small one but got killed cuz mom though was a garden weed. =/

sooner or later i'll go to the US and prepare some legitimate gourds with shroomerites! =)
