Audio nerd question; plugging tube amp into a/v receiver for turntable use?

I wanted to buy this:

I already have this:

I have a Yaqin tube pre-amp for my turntable. Can I run the cables from the pre-amp into the tube amp, and then into the A/V receiver [for simplicity, so I can use the speakers for other stuff too].
Would this be 'bad', or even work? Would it be pointless? What benefits (if any) would the tube amp have over using the SS a/v receiver as an amp?

This. You already have a tube preamp to add the even harmonics that the tube sound lovers like (and that can just as well be achieved with MOSFETs, btw). Adding just another amplification stage that will only act as a black hole for electricity and a device to add additional distortion to the chain doesn't make sense. If you want a tube power amp, then hook up a decent pair of speakers to it and leave out the receiver. But in your case, I'd just stick with the setup as it is.

I'm only concerned because the system just plain doesn't get 'loud' as it is and I wondered if the tube amplification would help. I have Cambridge S30 speakers, so they're not the biggest. Maybe I should consider new speakers? What's a MOSFET? Would the preamp tube -> tube amp -> speakers sound much different than my current configuration? (preamp->a/v->speakers)

Would the tube amp + 2 big ass speakers [only 2 channel] probably be a better bet for me? I run 'fake' 5.1 now just for volume. Can you recommend any bookshelf/floor speakers that could handle the bass-y parts as well?

How is the sound when you use just the receiver in stereo mode?

In my experience, you're hovering around the "sweet spot" for home speaker amplification.  I think it would take a much more expensive amp to increase the output.

The sound is good. I mean it could obviously be better, but such is the peril of home audio :lol:. It almost seems like at the volumes I like to play at that my speakers are too small. I'm a bit of a tube junkie though, and a 'naturalist' sort of, which is why I'm considering a 2.0 over the '5.1' set-up.

If you're just doing music, I'd recommend you run a 2.0 setup.  That is how most of the purists do it IME.  If you really want to "feel" the sound, add the subwoofer (2.1). 

I'm more theater myself, but when I listen to music, I run in 2.1 (not 2.0).
