DVD audio in 5.1
    #1376172 - 03/14/03 12:10 PM (21 years, 20 days ago)

I recently picked up the Blue Man Groups album "Audio" in DVD audio format. I've had the album for a couple years but I wanted to check it out in 5.1. They recorded this album in 5.1 and I must say...it fucking rocks even more! The three Blue Men are FR/FC/FL channels and the rest of the band is in surround, plus the seperate bass channel. It makes for an amazing listening experience when you are sitting in the middle of the room! And the flip side has a great DVD interview with the Blue Man Group.

Now what I am wondering, are there any other albums out there that have been specifically recorded to take advantage of the 5.1 format? I'd like to check them out if there is.

The Grateful Dead re-released American Beauty on DVD 5.1.
Mickey hart took the old studio tapes and turned it into DVD(how this is done is beyond me). The final product is absolutally amazing. It sound's like a brand new album. It was one of the Dead's finest studio albums to begin with but the differenc is amazing. There's so much more and better sound and the vocals are spectacular. I never new Pigpen sang so much on the album. He's all over the place ,but you couldn't hear it before. I was floored when I heard it. It left me speachless.
DVD 5.1 trully rocks

My friend was just asking me about that. He was like, what's the point of these music DVD's, and I was like, dude, 5.1 audio ... suXx0r.

Unfortunately, I haven't really looked into picking any up, so I don't know what's out there. Perhaps tomorrow I will look at some.
