i REALLY hate spiders but might get one

im thinking of getting a red knee tarantula, has anyone else with ever done this to combat their feers, if i see anything larger than a 50p coin (2-3cm) it goes out the window but thee are a few in my bathroom even arround the toilet area i leave

i love to watch spider documentoies and of course the film arachnaphobia is a classic but i cant understand my inclination to to get one.

i'm also thinking of getting some tree frogs as i have no pets and want something to handle.

I've been really toying with the proposition of going skydiving to combat my main fear which is heights or mainly getting on a plane. And from my perspective of fear....

I say go for it man. Face the shit out of that fear. Let the freaky little bastard crawl all over you and get it out of your system.

Hopefully I can be strong enough to do the same.

I've always been terrified of scorpions.

I should get a scorpion.

Then I would try my best not to burn my house down.

I'm working up the balls to get a snake after some more research. Generally terrified of them, which is why I'd like to get one to diminish that fear. Being afraid of spiders and reptiles isn't really something I'd consider an irrational fear. Apparently evolution engrained that fear into us.

You should check out some of them blue tarantulas. Scary, but beautiful looking fuckers. Now listen to this song to finalize your decision

Orchid mantises look cool as shit, but they're kinda small.




And pinktoe tarantulas look trippy... they start out bright blue as juveniles and then turn into this. Been wanting one for awhile.

One year we were having an aphid problem in our area so my dad caught all the jumping spiders around the house and put them on his plants. They actually made a home of his plants and he didn't have any bug problems after that. There was webbing connecting all the plants and shit. They can jump a couple feet when they get big. It's cool to see.

I would only do this if the place you get it from will allow you to return it within a certain time period, or you have a friend willing to take it or a second home worked out for it.
I can appreciate trying to work on confronting your fears, but do what you need to do to make sure that the animal is properly cared for and if you can't guarantee that it will be properly cared for then don't get one.

i'd say it's more fear than hate, i wouldn't be sat there staring at it with hate, although ive opted not to get one for now.
i've gone back to something i uised to own and just ordered 2 royal pythons, can't wait but i definatley want some dart frogs later down the track but the bigger terrarium and equipment they require to have a happy home would really of bubmbed up the cost.

nearly thoguht of getting one too being a scorpio when i was younger never fancied getting stung by the tail though im more used to physical pain now and could hack it having been bitten by my old snake a few times.
