im proboblly buying a new guitar today and its very exciting. This will be my first quality guitar. The one i have been playing for more than a year now was inder 200 and was okay to learn on but i need saomething wya better now. My limit was $700 which i feel is a decent amount for osmething of decent quality. I leaning toward the fender american highway 1 fat strat right now. It's an american made fender that runs around 600 and seems to be a really good deal. PLus i really lover the tone and its so versaile have that humbucker pickup. My mind could still change but that is what im lenaing toward right now. I really don't know though and if there is a way to gt the pricel owered i would like to know how cause i know there are sales peopes there and they will try and take advantage.

That's a good choice. I bought a Fender American Strat several years ago and I always regret not buying the fat strat!

go to the store, get comfortable sitting on a good amp and play every guitar on the wall and see how they feel, how they sound, how they look...everything! Tell the sales guy he can leave you alone for a while, play 'em 'till you've narrowed it down three, then play those three again.....make your choice and then...call the sales guy over and say "This is the one, what can ya' do on it??" They know your serious and you're ready to spend your money, if they can't get it where you want, tell 'em "Fuck ya', I'm off to the next store to see what they can do" bet you'll come home with a fine purchase for your $$$

Thats some damn good advice from Blu... If your are looking for a guitar that has humbuckers dont rule out the Gibsons...I had a `62 reissue Gibson SG that was a dream to play. I also had a Eric Clapton type Strat w/the lace sensor pickups which will allow you to do just about anything your little heart desires.. Both of those guitars arent cheap but they stay in tune, When you can pull a guitar outta the case after 2-3 months and it`s still in tune then it`s a keeper
