i think i'd like to buy a new guitar

anyone got any good recomendations of obscuro guitars to check out before i start researching my options. i used to play a gibson SG but the neck sort of broke off. i like strats too, but i'm not sure i'd want a strat and a strat only...that'd limit my sound a good bit. i wish my SG didn't break. then i'd probably go for strat and have the best of both worlds.

right now i'm playing a washburn "lyon" telecaster with all sorts of problems going on inside, plus it's a piece of shit anyways. also, i have a esp 250-m that won't stay in tune for shit because it's a piece of shit. both guitars are crappy guitars from long ago that were just sort of backups. now i need a quality guitar again.

acoustic or electric? for acoustic, martin is my favourite company, by far. gianninis are nice acoustics with interesting shapes, too.

for electrics, i'm partial to the telecaster by fender...

yeah i need an electric. there's like a combined total of 6 acoustic guitars in this house right now. all of them pretty much suck (one of them was found in a dumpster) and i would like to get a good one at some point, but for now i need to get a good electric.

as for telecasters...i don't really care for them. no resonance.

it's a hard choice between a humbucker loaded guitar or a single coil type guitar. i suppose i could get a HSS fender. i dunno though...the idea of buying a fender sort of bores me. if i'm gonna shell out that sort of cash i might as well get a another gibson. maybe i'll hit up all the pawn shops at some point soon and see if i can find anything interesting that catches my eye. a semi-hollow body might be kind of cool if i can find one for a decent price.

If you really want advice you have to be a little more specific. How much are you looking to spend and what kind of sound are you looking for?

a friend recently bought a semi-hollow body ibanez that had a really nice tone to it. he is a bit of a dead-beat, though, and owed money to the type of drug-dealer you don't want to be owing money to.. eventualyl the guy just walked into my friend's house and took his guitar (that was probably worth $500 more than he owed him :doh: )

maybe around 1k. i mostly frequent 'jamband' type circles, but i'm sort of trying to distance myself from that a bit and do more of a rock thing. i just want something versatile with a unique sound.

basically the point of this thread was to see if anyone plays scheters or ibanez's or other less popular brands and get some opinions about those types of guitars. i know what i'd probably get if i were going to get a fender or a gibson.

that sucks! i guess he should payed the guy and then bought the guitar though..

i don't think i've ever seen an ibanez semi-hollow body. how much did it cost? they're usually pretty exspensive. even the epiphones are about 500-600 dollars, although they sound pretty good.

I was going to recommend ibanez too. I got a good hollow body (as73) and it's like $350.
