I doubt you can really tell the difference when both are played on good setups.

And I'm sure you'll tell me otherwise. I've been on the internet long enough to know how this goes.

I like collecting CDs. mp3's  just ain't the same as having the actual cd cover and cd.
I like 90's gangster rap and try to collect underground stuff I used to listen to back then but rare CDs can get expensive I got a cd that is worth 200$ if you could find it . Remember cd covers they used to be awesome like bone thugs n Harmony E.1999 the cd cover had some crazy Ouija board thing with some poem written so that you have to hold it up to a mirror to read it and the way the actual cd looked with those clear skulls in a pentagram . You just don't get that kinda art with an mp3 .
I used to love buying my CDs back in the day . Don't get me wrong downloading free music is awesome too but back in the day collecting music was more meaningful to me. It was like I only have 20$ what cd am I going to buy and I look at all the great CDs at the store I want and have to narrow my choice down to one and that one cd would be the best thing ever the music would mean more for some reason now I feel like downloaded music comes a dime a dozen and isn't worth what music used to be worth IMO and vinyl I love the sound it's just harder to get the stuff I like plus I don't got a turntable but I have been meaning to get a pair of some 1200's I got a little bit of vinyl but not much mostly 80's stuff

they're smart. they kept their album off the internet by making their music a personal endeavor.

if i would be able to find it online, i'd download it. but alas... :shrug: they deserve my money, if i can buy it straight from them. :thumbup:

PS: they didn't have these clips online like... the beginning of this year. now they do. this is how it should work. rarities are more interesting to me, in the long run.

I'm lucky, I have a place called Looney Tunes really close to where I live. They are probably the one of the best around when it comes to both popular and obscure. Otherwise, it's pretty much reaching it's death.

Depends on the bitrate of the MP3. Lower bitrates I can absolutely tell the difference. At higher bitrates, yeah there is very little difference on a good setup, it would take a trained ear, which I have. You lose "something" in processing it via digital, that's the warmth with vinyl everyone always talks about.

if one can support their local bands, it's a no brainer. they have no outlet or source for their "moola", other then shows and merch.

I know.. I was just being a smart ass. I still have a few CDs.. but they are dead to me, between vinyl and mp3s/flacs I have no need for CDs. But yeah it's good to support local bands by buying their merch definitely.
