What's up with Smashing Pumpkins rocking the fuck out?

I use to love smashing pumpkins when I was a teen. A few months ago I DL'd all their albums off a torrent site. (Don't worry I actuall own them or did before they got smashed.) When I was a teen I listened to them on my shitty stereo or my shitty truck cassette player.
So I found them today digging around in my files, I had forgotten that I DL'd them. Man playing them from a soundblaster on 5.1 is amazing! Good vibe music. I'm rocking rock 90's style over here.

Man sometimes when they just start wailing off on their guitars it blows my mind.
Anyway, yay.

fuck yeah! Smashing Pumpkins made some of my favorite music from the 90s.
I've been listening to Gish a lot lately. Back when I was a hardcore fan I never really gave the album much of a chance, but after a second inspection I've realized that it really is quite brilliant

I just hadn't listen to them in years and when I did it was on a shitty stereo. I'm rockin out here my computer/winamp/headphone/system won't go any higher.
Yeah, I have to use headphones when playing it loud, living in a condo and all.
Man, the song "Soma", the end part...imagine listening to that while high or on e...

i always gotta contribute to the smashing pumpkins threads gish and siamese dream are some of the best music ever made. i used to not listen to gish much, but now i look back and realize the creativity and brilliant songwriting, not to mention billy plays some rippin guitar on that cd, and jimmy orchestrates his drumming beautifully, as usual. even pices iscariot has a lot of great overlooked material..if you don't have it, DL it now!

Ok, before I read those news stories I'm going to post. If the smashing pumpkins are coming back I am really happy to hear it.
Pumpkins are my emo. I listened to them in my teens. They are king. When I first heard Zwan I was really disappointed but after a few listens to Honestly I might be willing to give it a try again.
Have you really downloaded ALL their albums? What am I missing? Gish Pieces Iscariot Siamese Dream Melon Collie Ava Adore Machina The Machina 2 that was released online Rotten Apples

Just gotta chime in and give mad props to the Pumpkins. To me they have captured the very essence of rock. Anyone see Viewphoria (sp?)? They kick so much ass live that it's not even funny. And the studio stuff is so classic, Siamese Dream is like an audio tattoo in my brain... Not sure they should reform though, "you can never go back home..."

Im not even gonna read this post!
SMASHING PUMPKINS are STILL one of my favorite bands.
after there drummer died it went down hill, he was truly the backbone of an amazing band.
Gish = 5 stars Siamese Dream = 5 stars Pisces Iscariot = 4 stars (just cause it was all the stuff they didnt put on siamese dream, so some of it was really roughly sketched out) Melloncollie = 5 stars. (i dont care what anyone says, this album still rocks, while showing some experimental ideas).
the song Glynis from "no alternative" is amazing...
"Drown" from the singles soundtrack is fucking awesome as well... woo!
after Melloncollie when the drummer Died, it all goes to something im not into.
SMASHING PUMPKINS ROCKS.
Seriously there have been like 5 smashing pumpkins kicks ass threads since last october.

and they always will rock. even though they invented "emo" and made it popular

Yeah, Drown is really good. You have to have the full version tho, the one that is on the Greastest Hits album dissapointingly has the long feedback solo completely cut out. I just can't understand why they'd have done that.
Glynis is my favorite song of theirs. Download it now!!!!! or something.

I'll be sure to let you know, I edited my above post with a question to ya, btw. Another good one is Vanilla ~<{it uses the same progression as Tonight Tonight}>~ , off the '89 dem's.
I'm soloing along to Drown's feedback right now, on ma '57 strat reissue. Maybe the same guitar he used on it, I dunno, but I've seen him with one a lot from the SD era.

Ah yeah I had those but lost themm too
I'll have to DL them. I really did pay for them all at one point but one way or another the cds died.
Can you give me the songs name, I remember daughter and with you being awesome, yeah.
Man that's cool you play guitar. I got to use a pro's guitar and amp w/ the loudest speaker I've ever heard once. I can't play and doubt that I could learn, but even strumming it through that huge speaker was awesome.
I could feel the cords. I imagine the feeling of rockin out with music YOU are playing and feeling it vibrate through your body must be awesome.

The Reel Time sessions ('89 demos in wav format - can't really pay for that one since it was never a release) and Ultra Rare Tracks (shn format, not available for purchase since 5 or more years ago, as best I know). Just give me a bit to get them rar'ed and upp'ed

Audible difference in sound quality. You can convert them later if you want, but if you put them to a cd you'll want the original quality. I notice it, and it's some of my favorite music, so it matters for me. Lesser interest music I'll just have in mp3.
Acutally the wavs are huge, it's 1.11 gb for the uncompressed Reel Times and that'll take a while to upload. Maybe I can put them into shn, but I don't have time right now, I was going to go outside. I'll post the yousendit address' for both compilations in this thread later today. For now it's good day sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: not yousendit, damnit, what file sender program lets you send up to 1GB files?

yeah that's the long version. The solo is equally long to the sung parts. Hey, mine's 8:14 - there'll be even more goodness when you get this version!! Oodelally.
So later today. Must. Catch. Clouds.

jimmy didn't die man! he just did herion with their keyboardist at the time, who ended up dying. the pumpkins fired jimmy because of it, but he ended up coming back for machina. he played with billy in zwan, put out a kick ass cd with the jimmy chamberlain complex, and now is back with billy for another pumpkins cd...definitely not dead, thank god

Ouch, what an insult to James Iha...pumpkins would suck without him.
Toadcasil: When did their drummer die? He was a heroin addict and the band finally voted him out after 96 (I think he may have gone to rehab shortly after or something to that extent).
Further, Gish is one of the best albums, and Pisces Iscariot is almost as good, imo.

you kids! good grief!
thank god somebody noticed the error about the drummer dying. what the hell?? yeah, your favorite band blah blah i don't know which member died but somebody did. pfft. james iha, the damned rhythm/lead guitarist is REALLY going to be insulted that he is being replaced, NOT, by auf de maur who is actually replacing D'arcy the actual BASSIST.
it's one thing to be ignorant, it's another to say they are your favorite or some shit and still be so ignorant.

no doubt. auf de maur is not shabby herself but I will never shake the associated images of her face buried in courtney's snatch. dunno if that ever happened but my mind will always assume so.
you gotta respect D'arcy's stand, tho. i bet Billy is next to impossible to work with.

The feedback jam in Drown is some of their best work, although I just love Today. I'm learning to play it right now, in addition to the Grateful Dead.

It was Johnathan Melovin, The SP Keyboardist that died of a drug OD...This event caused drummer Jimmy Chamberlin to be "kicked out" of the group.
