I was into Pumpkins music some too, but I think in the late 90's is when I really got into them more...I just was into other bands before then. But hey that is cool that they are making a comeback, they need new music, that is for sure...

Just gotta chime in and give mad props to the Pumpkins. To me they have captured the very essence of rock. Anyone see Viewphoria (sp?)? They kick so much ass live that it's not even funny. And the studio stuff is so classic, Siamese Dream is like an audio tattoo in my brain... Not sure they should reform though, "you can never go back home..."

Im not even gonna read this post!
SMASHING PUMPKINS are STILL one of my favorite bands.
after there drummer died it went down hill, he was truly the backbone of an amazing band.
Gish = 5 stars Siamese Dream = 5 stars Pisces Iscariot = 4 stars (just cause it was all the stuff they didnt put on siamese dream, so some of it was really roughly sketched out) Melloncollie = 5 stars. (i dont care what anyone says, this album still rocks, while showing some experimental ideas).
the song Glynis from "no alternative" is amazing...
"Drown" from the singles soundtrack is fucking awesome as well... woo!
after Melloncollie when the drummer Died, it all goes to something im not into.
SMASHING PUMPKINS ROCKS.
Seriously there have been like 5 smashing pumpkins kicks ass threads since last october.

and they always will rock. even though they invented "emo" and made it popular

Drown is amazing, I don't know who is going nuts on those guitars, but damn!
I'm still listening to them right now.
Springs, listen to "Siamises dream" and flashback to the mother fuckin 90's.

Yeah, Drown is really good. You have to have the full version tho, the one that is on the Greastest Hits album dissapointingly has the long feedback solo completely cut out. I just can't understand why they'd have done that.
Glynis is my favorite song of theirs. Download it now!!!!! or something.

WTF. Why did they cut it out on the Greatest Hits album? I'm pretty sure I have the long version and the short one, never bothered listening to the short one.

I'll bet Drown and Glynis both sound really good on mdma. Let's try it out shall we?...
theolduser, do you have a large collection of their unrealeased works? The '89 demos are smokin too. Some of their best creations are there imo. Daughter, for one. With You for another.

I'll be sure to let you know, I edited my above post with a question to ya, btw. Another good one is Vanilla ~<{it uses the same progression as Tonight Tonight}>~ , off the '89 dem's.
I'm soloing along to Drown's feedback right now, on ma '57 strat reissue. Maybe the same guitar he used on it, I dunno, but I've seen him with one a lot from the SD era.
