nope... only 2 are privatized, Winn and Avoyelles. that leaves 8 that are still state run

It's the largest police state in the world. And I not only know people that've been in those places but I've seen video on some Cannabis doc on hulu of guards in those place treating people like dogs.

oh... so you saw a documentary. you know those are only there to show you what they want to call the truth, it's not always factual.

Most, in there for non-violent drug charges like cannabis.

care to show some actual statistics because most times people end up in
prison there's more than one charge but they one they like to push is that
it's only for weed possession, they fail to mention they were dealing, had
possession of guns and crystal meth, shot and killed some guy, fought with
the cops, etc...

but honestly, why they're in there is irrelevant

I'm not really sure where your getting your numbers on privatized prisons, but where I'm at it's basically sanctioned slavery.

I'm not sure where you're getting your but yours are certainly wrong, and
yes, it is sanctioned slavery, it's permissible under the constitution,
maybe you should read that, pay close attention to the bill of rights

As far as "fooling myself" for big pharma.  Why would you legalize a cure

you're fooling yourself even more, weed isnt a cure for anything, it too is a treatment

Rick Simpson had one hell of a "treatment" rate before the FDA went into Canada and stopped his work.  That makes sense.  Let's help dying people, but since you don't go through our channels fuck those dying assholes.

You're fooling yourself if you think cannabis isn't a wonder drug.  Call it a "treatment" if you will but I've watched someone with MS stumble his crippled ass into the Amsterdam cafe and watched the pain in his eyes every crutch-ed step.  Saw the relief that Cannabis brought him damn near instantly.
It's criminal that people keep cannabis away from somebody like that...Fucking criminal.

10% private prisons is way too high of a number. Inter-inmate assault in private prisons is 65% higher then in legitimate prisons. Worst of all contractual obligations regarding minimum acceptable occupancy rates in private prisons create a vested interest on the part of legislators to enact stiffer penalties for any given thing that crosses their table. Places that allow for ANY amount of privately run facilities will never have an honest conversation about liberalizing drug laws, because it will never be about the treatment of addicts, or the safety of the populace, or the rights of individuals, and it will always be about maintaining contracts and preventing a disruption of the slave labor pipe-line.

Private prisons where a bigger issue, but as time moves on, and more light is shone on the subject, the idea becomes less and less justifiable. States that once stood whole heartedly behind the concept are stepping further and further down the road of deceleration, hence the moratorium that was placed on the building of new private prisons in Louisiana, and the outright return to a public system in Idaho.

Now if we could just work on demilitarizing the fucking police...

That and whether or not Pris1 believes it.  Small time cannabis arrests fund alot of small counties in diehard places like Oklahoma.  Putting it in the frame of just a privatized prison problem in hindsight is just taking a small look at the big picture.
Fact is cannabis is medicine that alot of people just do not want legalized.  And that has nothing to do with any sort of "moral compass" whatsoever.
