you should consider yourself fortunate man. Its a very good mentality to be grateful for the gifts youve been given in life. Ive been graced with a wonderful family as well, and a great group of friends. Id like to keep this thread secular but in all honesty I thank God pretty much every night for the people in my life.

I am pretty sure my family will be around when im 80s (if i make it that far), but am hoping some of my friends will be too. A lot of them still smoke; I dont want them all to be attached to iron lungs when im 60 and still in the partying mood.

My family used to be immensely close, and then in the last few years a few drug addictions have put a massive rift in things. Now the ones of us that weren't fucking up our lives with drugs are even less close because of it, but still close.

Wish the whole 'family sticks together' thing was true tho, but a few sibling have shown me that is not the case, and I agree with the sentiments of XLCaps that friends can be highly more valuable. Family really doenst mean anything, but it's awesome(!) if your family are your friends, but dont assume 'family' means anything more than 'same DNA'. Again, if you are friends with your family, awesome, definitely not putting down good family vibes. Wish they were still as strong as they once were in my family, but not sure if they'll get that way now given everything that's happened.

I dislike that some people try to imply you owe certain family member's respect, when in my experience the only people who deserve your love and respect are the ones that have earned it. Our friends are owed our love and gratitude, in family we are just titled. That's how I look at it anyway.

I found this awesome new feature called the ignore feature. I apply it to sheekle and the site bullshit meter goes down by 80%. It's a gem. Everyone should ignore sheekle, it makes the site so much better!:feelsgoodman:
