No. Mimosa hostilis is a potential admixture to ayahuasca, but it is not ayahuasca in and of itself. The current terminology for ayahuasca usually alludes to the traditional brew that contains Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis. To confuse matters further, the traditional name for B. caapi is ayahuasca (translates to "Rope of the Dead"). Thus the usage of such terms as "mimosahuasca" by some of the more contemporary users was employed to minimalize confusion.

Mimosa hostilis contains N,N-DMT. It does not contain an MAOI. It is possible to extract N,N-DMT out of M. hostilis, but it's not possible to brew ayahuasca with only M. hostilis as N,N-DMT is orally inactive as it gets eliminated by monoamine oxidase in your liver (thus the necessity of an MAOI).

i thought ayahuasca stood for, "vine of the dead" or is that just a loose trnaslation that could mean rope too?

Actually I believe that it's also known as "Vine of Souls"...it is a loose translation and can be interpreted as either. But I think that "Rope of the Dead" is a more literal translation.
