My mother is having frequent migraines

like 2 times a month, completely grounds her, shes bed ridden for 2 - 3 days :frown:

Is there anything i can do?

Have her eat healthier. Could be something else but I cured my migraines by switching over to healthier foods, specifically avoid MSG as a food additive. That is in top ramen and loads of other things.

when i read the thread title my body  cringed and my eyes auto-diverted to some other thread.  not because migraines are something that creeps me out, but because i would hate hate hate hate to see my mom in pain like that :frown:

If it is that bad I would consider fibromyalgia as a possible culprit.
It can be difficult to diagnose, and will definitely lay people out for days.
Mostly afflicts women also.

Does your mother work around heavy chemicals (paints, epoxies, resins) by chance? I used to work with epoxy and would get monthly, or more often, migraines. try to find out what is her "trigger" often times people get them from eating something specific, or non eating something. Mine would come, without fail, if I didn't have my morning coffee :smirk:. Best of luck, wouldn't wish a migraine on anyone :thumbdown:

Emmett therapy has helped my wife a lot with migraine. I know it is just massage, but it works for high tension which is a major cause of migraine. This isn't reflexology or homeopathy, but actual body massage focusing on the neck and ribs which cause the type of tension headache that leads to migraine. There's other specifications in the field, but I recommend it from personal experience. It really helped us.

OP, try and find out what triggers these migraine attacks in your mom. It could be some specific food or drink, or something else in the environment. Unfortunately this trigger can vary from person to person. Once the cause is identified, she can avoid it. Your mom can also meet a doctor, and get some medicine prescribed for her. There are sumatriptan based drugs available that can be helpful for 'some' people. All the best.

I read about supplements that might help reduce migraine...  Tanacetum parthenium (feverfew), magnesium, riboflavin, coenzyme q10..

My wife used to get migraines maybe every 3 months. Nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, classic symptoms. They went away after she started seeing a chiropractor.

Is there a study about LSD/magic mushrooms healing migraine headaches or was it cluster headaches??

If she drinks tap water, tell her to stop and start buying Dasani bottled water

I never get headaches, but when I drank tap water instead of bottled water all day, I got a headache. Definitely not a coincidence.
