They knock your ass out (in the states) for wisdom teeth unless they are already out. You don't feel nothing. I have has a molar taken out, it only felt like a weird pressure. I also had wisdom tooth taken out while under novacaine since it was actually smaller than a regular molar.

If you ever have a rotten tooth, you will wish for a quick fix. Having your nerves exposed and eaten by bacteria is one of the worst pains I have ever had. I remember one work night I was dropping to my knees with my hand firmly placed on the side of my face.  Sadly on that one I went through the root canal but could not afford the crown. It later broke apart and a dentist scrapped the tooth bits out, but by then there where no nerves, so that was nice. Granted it still felt like all fuck.

Mine hurt really bad and gave me terrible headaches, I only regret not getting them out sooner as they had started hurting a little bit at 18, but it would stop for a while or I'd be too busy to take off for a couple of days. I got them out about this time last year a little after I turned 21, two were impacted and I went to a dental surgeon who put me under.

TBH, if I had to choose between a bad stomach flu and the wisdom tooth extraction I would go with the wisdom teeth - I came out of the surgery feeling stupidly good, double thumbs up and nurses telling me I needed to sit the fuck down till everything wore off, even though I felt totally fine, a little bit goofy and euphoric but my motor skills and balance was back to normal. It felt a bit like I got punched in the jaw, and I  spent a weekend laying out in the sun on percocets for pain that could've been easily managed by codeine and OTC stuff, it was like a nice little vacation and afterwards I didn't get nearly as many migraines as I used to.


....buttttt, then 6 days after the surgery I tried to smoke weed and I ended up with two dry sockets, which hurt like a motherfucker. I went back to the surgeon and he gave me codeine but didn't do anything else. Codeine was shit for that pain, if anything I wish they had flip flopped the meds. I went back after another day and saw a different surgeon at the same place who was astonished that the other guy didn't do fucking anything whatsoever except give me pain meds. He told me to flush the area 3x a day with an eyedropper and saline, and put a packing in them to protect the exposed nerves and bones, and that was probbbaaaabbly the worst pain I have felt in a long time because it involved taking tweezers and some dressing and shoving it really far into the exposed socket where all the nerves are. But after that it stopped hurting and I could actually function with minimal use of ibprofen.

Long story short, if they bother you at all, just fucking take them out. Go to an oral surgeon so you're not conscious during it. The pain really is not that bad, especially with the pain meds they give you, IMO.
just don't smoke a single thing or drink through a straw until you are absolutely positive things are okay..I was told a week would be fine but it obviously was not.

I never got my wisdom teeth removed either, and ^that^ is along the lines of my situation, they're crowding my back molars and causing them to crack. Already lost a couple :sadyes: , it sucks, I take pretty good care of my body but I have shitty teeth in the back, and looks like my front ones are become slightly out of line.


Except I don't have insurance or the $ to go about getting shit done.

Like they saying goes to describe shitty situations,"more fun than a root canal."  Yeah it definitely takes a toll on the jaw, and your lips get all dry and feel like they're splitting.  I've been there had one as well.  It is what it is, just got to man up as they say.

I had an IV in and everything. Had me count to 5 and I don't remember even getting to 3.


Ya that's how it was for me as well. Knocked me out immediately until I woke up in a fuck ton of pain. My lips were very swollen because I guess my mouth wasn't big enough so theu busted me all up.

You know, they have REALLY good painkillers these days!

I had one of my wizdom teeth extracted because it was impacting (growing into) from front molers in front of it. I got like 3 shots of novacaine, and I was awake the WHOLE time. It was done by a dental student at a dental university. It was a fraction of the cost of going to an actual dentist's office.

It didn't hurt whatsoever. The only thing was that it was kinda awkward because I could hear all the little "crack" and "creak" noises inside of my head that the tools were making in my mouth. I would definitely do it again.

I actually want my other wizdom teeth removed because when I eat fast, I ALWAYS bight the side of my cheek and it fucking hurts. That never happened before my wizdom teeth came in.

The only time you really need wizdom teeth extracted is if A. They are growing into your front molars, B. If you are experiencing pain because of them, or C. You bight the inside of your cheek while chewing food like me.
