Sheep Like Jesus

While I was flipping through the channels, I hovered on a CBN or some such type program. Under a metal plaque of a global map reminding you that Jesus is Lord, the host was sitting at a round table, adorned with a wood cut-out proclaiming the same message as the plaque. His enthusiastic “Hallelujah, Praise Jesus” spouting wife and/or sister-in-Jesus close to his side, the host produced an interesting thought.

[begin paraphrase]
Host – Praise Jesus.
Wife – Hallelujah.
Host – Amen!
Wife – Praise Jesus!
(Repeat x2)

Host –
Host – You know, a lamb can’t hurt you. They don’t even have teeth! No matter what, a lamb can’t hurt you, I don’t care if it tries to bite you or... what, it can’t hurt you. You pick one of those little guys and they just give themselves to you. Lambs are givers. That’s why Jesus is called the Lamb.
Wife – Hallelujah!
Host – Praise Jesus!
Wife – Amen.
Host – And even when they grow up, they just give themselves to you. When you meet a sheep, you shouldn’t pet it that first time. Once you do, they just attach themselves to you. The will follow you anywhere, even into the house.
Wife – Just like “Mary had a Little Lamb”.
Host – And that’s why Christian’s are called sheep. Because we follow Jesus, he is our shepherd.

Wife – Praise Jesus!
Host – Amen!
Wife – Hallelujah!
Host – Amen.
(Repeat x2)

Now, get what you will from that part…. There are many ways to interpret what he was saying. One could contend that he was describing the trust that believers have in Jesus. Or, you could argue that he blatantly called Christians sheep. The next thing he had to say lends support for the latter.

They don't realize Jesus is not their shepherd anymore but they still blindly follow the shepherd.
That's the problem with being a sheep. It's not about the sheep being blind, she can be "corrected" for the sakes of the bad shepherd. It's about the shepherd letting the sheep see just what he wants the sheep to see.:smirk:
