Nah. Me laying down in bed doesn't change the world at all. Or are you saying my inaction changes the world as much as my action does?

Y'all gotta stop worrying about changing the world and instead start working on just accepting everything the way it is- as absolutely perfect.

You should tell that to every parent who has lost their child to drug use

Or to someone who had their family, friend or lover murdered

Or have been raped

Or tortured

Or held captive

Etc

The world isn't perfect, there is little to accept. If you want to accept a shithole, fine, but to say everything is fine the way it is, is naïve.

No.
I'm not accepting that cannabis is illegal in most areas.
I'm not accepting that so many people continue to think it's use has to be in a dangerous manner.
I'm not accepting things that are, have to stay the way they are forever.

The delay continues, but not for much longer.
I'm perfecting this for all of you

Would the slaves of the world today say the same thing, would the sex slaves?

What about back when slavery was legal in America?

You have a funny way of thinking about the world.

Ying and yang baby. There is no good without bad because the two are reflections of each other. Qualifiers such as "good" and "bad" are comparative terms and as such we need both to appreciate either. I grew up catholic and one of the biggest philosophical problems I had with "God" growing up is how he could allow things like war to take place. It wasn't until a couple years ago did I hear a quantum physicist explain that he believed "God" to be a metaphor for collective consciousness. He thought the study of collective consciousness was the same as the study of quantum physics actually. Quantum physics, he elaborated, is the study of possibilities and you may be aware that God is considered to be all-possible, all-knowing, all-present, etc in most religions. Well it's the same with collective consciousness; collective consciousness is made up of all the matter in the universe, which includes all of the knowledge we all possess, and it's everywhere since there is matter everywhere.

My point it, something that is all-possible, such as matter/God/collective consciousness, something this perfect necessarily contains both positive and negative possibilities to make it a complete, whole.

So really, things like war and violence and disease should strengthen the idea of God if you're a theist. I personally am an agnostic because I don't think there is enough evidence in support nor against the existence of God to rule our either possibility entirely. I do like the idea of Collective Consciousness though and believe this is the idea archaic theists were trying to capture when they described God to pre-historic people. (Imagine you are an illiterate man/woman living around 2000 BC. Collective consciousness and quantum physics is likely going to be way too abstract for you to even wrap your mind around, but the personified version of it we get with God becomes a little easier to relate to and comprehend.)

Of course we can get really philosophical and say that moral values such as "good" and "bad" are anthropomorphized biases to begin with. War and peace are fictitious titles given to behaviors so that we can identify such behaviors as they relate to the subject talking about them. If you think about it from a broader perspective, it doesn't seem any more or less silly to call war "bad" as it does to say a lion-gazelle hunt is "good" or "bad."

Butttt that doesn't mean we shouldn't always strive for improvement.  :chugbeer:

Making the world better and cannabis legal is great.

All I'm saying is the universe runs on an eternal cycle, a flow of good and evil, and while you can mix things around a bit you will never rid the world of all good or all evil as hard as you try.

In the end, at the core, it's all you.

But., I would LOVE it if you can make cannabis legal, hell, I would REALLY love to have you as my caregiver

Are you telling me to appreciate the bad things in life? No way - that is ridiculous. I get you're trying to be deep, but I appreciate the things I DO like because I learned to LOATHE the things I hate.

You say they are comparative, I say there are cases where it is pretty clear and cut, with some grey areas in between which are unknown to be inherently "good" or "bad" and even then, it is a bit more complex than that.

I'm not trying to tell you or anyone else to do anything. But, aside from a minor miscommunication, I think we are in agreement. The way I see it, it is the contrast between the things I love and the things I loathe that allow me to love and loathe at all. Vacation wouldn't be as valuable if I didn't have to work for it. If everyday was vacation it would eventually become less meaningful. Likewise, a life of work isn't so bad to those who don't know any different, who have gotten used to it. I personally have grown to appreciate a hard days work even though I didn't like working at first. You know, every time a relative dies or some other tragic event happens I am reminded how lucky and fortunate I am to still be living. As much as I don't like these situations, they remind me how thankful I am of what I do have.

Everything is comparative though on some level. In physics, you define an object by relating it to its surroundings. Metaphysically, the relationships between ideas are used to make meaningful statements about them. I really can't think of a single thing that has no comparison except maybe whole systems such as math or science (which have nothing to compare with and thus can't be validated/proven/falisified, ironic isn't it?)!

No I don't think it does, it just changes the topic. I'm saying values can be polar; two extremes on a sliding scale. I make no claims about which extremes is the positive one or the negative one. All I'm saying is whatever arbitrary set of qualifiers we choose, wherever something fits on that scale, it will be evaluated in relation to the two extremes.
