How do you know if your PMP has enough air exchange?

Am I supposed to see bubbles coming up from the geolite or something? How can I tell? Humidity looks great, but I'm worried about how I can tell if the bubblers are giving enough air exchange.

You should be able to here the bubbler working, and yes
normally you see bubbles if th air hose end is underwater.
I you just have an air pipe going into the geolite, then you
can check its blowing air by wetting your lip and holding the
hose near it, you should be able to feel a breeze that way.

I can hear the bubbler loud and clear.  The air pipe is underneath about 4.75 inches of geolite (and water of course), and I can still hear it, but I don't see any bubbles rising to the surface or anything.  :frown:

You could test it by filling the chamber with smoke and seeing how long it takes to clear. But I would just work it out based on the pump's rating and the volume of the pod.

4.75 inches ia a lot of geo,the bubbles would break up before they could get thru that depth.
dont panic it's working.

Okay...maybe you could help me figure this out? The volumn of the pod in square inches is exactly 7956, and the air pump is good for aquariums of 30-80 gallons.

I am hopeless at this...can anyone help me?

I have incense filling up the chamber right now so I can see how quickly it is released and the pod clears.

So I guess that my air pump would cover it then ok, even under 4.75 inches of geolite and water?  Thanks tons for the help.  My kitten's cakes go in today.  :mushroom2:

heres a good test, throw some fully colonized PF cakes in your PMP and see if mushrooms grow    :wink:

I like to run about 4 inches of geolite and 3.5 of water to start.

What about lava rocks, Magash? Use the same 4in/3.5in ratio of medium to water?

With perlite no I'd use a little less. It packs together more and there is less space between the pieces.

With lava rock I'd use the same as geolite

Thanks for the help!  I think that my air exchange is okay because I did the incense test.  It got super smokey but all the smoke was gone in a few hours or so, although it still smells really nice in there now! :smile:

i dont want to scare you but incense is made out of shit...and is known to harbour contams....i read about this once.

burning it is not the problem...but if i remember correctly there were cases where some sort of exotic disease/infection was traced to UNBURNED incence,,,
