I've seen wolves and bobcats and plenty of bear, but probably the most endangered specie I ever found in the wild was a Pine Barrens Tree Frog.  Very small range, not many of them left.

that's it. yeah, i saw one of those mofos on a river rock, hunting or some shit.

they're pretty cool. I've heard that they can fly between entire continents. I've also heard that they can fly for many hours without even flapping their wings by taking advantage of thermal updrafts and such things.

Not sure if either of these things are true though

well, that's awesome to think that the one i saw was fro ma different continent. coolin

I've seen an albino skunk; a family of them lived near where I used to work.  I don't know how rare albinism is in skunks.

I caught a two headed garter snake when I was 10.
I saw a 15' or bigger great white in depoe bay as a kid.
I saw a fisher(big weasel like creature) cross the road while biking the Oregon coast.

Jealous. I've wanted to see one for a long time, next time I'm out in San Diego visiting my godparents, I hope I've got the extra scratch to maybe try and go cage diving. Even then it can be a hit or miss.

we were literally 30 feet or so directly above the shark as it lazily swam around in the bay inlet below us. it must have been 3'-4' in width as well. we had adults with us to confirm it's size. that's the only wild shark I've seen except for a baby blue shark that a dude was hauling off the beach in a cooler one day.

another time when I was 19, we were on some beavis and butthead acid at this remote location on the coast overlooking the ocean on some cliffs with little coves and beaches barely accessible. we were peaking when this mother gray whale and her calf swam up into the cove we were sitting above and put on an amazing 30 minute show for us.
another time at that same spot we were camping out and had taken good acid, then boosted it back up later in the night with a bunch of cubes. we were sitting on the same cliffs when we started hearing someone yelling for help down in the rocks below us. we were mushroom drunk and could barely walk or keep our eyes open because we were so fucked up. there was some beer involved and herbs too. we debated whether to save the dude but decide against it because it was so dangerous. we felt like we were killing the dude as we walked back to camp and it changed our whole trip. we came back a few hours later when it started to become light and he was still yelling for help. I scrambled down the cliffs only to find a gigantic sea lion pup sitting in a tidepool with an umbilical cord attached. it was slamming into the sharp rocks with the tide so I instinctively went in and picked it up to put it on the beach. as soon as I did this I saw it's mother pop out of the water a few feet away and so I put the pup back in the water and left quickly. as we were leaving from  above on the cliff we could see the mother and pup in the tidepool together nursing. thankfully the pup wasn't abandoned. I was all grimy from crawling around in the forest and cliffs so i'm sure I didn't smell too strange to the mother.

Toucan
Sloth
Macaw

Saw these and much more in Costa Rica in the wild.

I don't think these are endangered, but maybe rare to see for most of us..

I love seeing tropical birds. I always wanted a giant beautiful Macaw, but could never bring myself to get one because they're so often poached from their habitat.

Yeah, I hear that they'll come right up to boats and stick their heads out of the water to check them out sometimes.

bison, coyotes, wolves. all probably within 50 feet of me. some of the bison were more like about 5 feet from me. and they are huge, fast, and awesome creatures.

A nesting leatherback seaturtle. It was crazy, like the size of a refrigerator pushed on it's side.

Same here. I was out hiking in bare feet and it started rattling right in front of me.

Other than that, I've seen some kind of big cat (cougar I think), bald eagles a couple times, and some wolves. Opossums are pretty rare in my immediate area, only seen a live one once.
