subtitled anime to learn how to read

My son is in first grade and at the beginning of this school year he was struggling to read new material at school.  At home though with books we had already read he could breeze right through them.  A couple months ago I got hulu plus.  A lot of the anime is in Japanese with english subtitles.  I started watching only subbed anime and his teacher said his reading level went from barely 1st grade to 3rd grade reading level just this year.  I think this is pretty cool, just last night watching fairy tale I heard him say "poison dragon cobra, hes a dragon slayer dad".

i started this on hulu a few days ago and i'm almost done with season 2, i also havent had much of a life these past few days.

I got hooked on naruto, I couldnt wait for new episodes to come out so I read all the manga.  Now im waiting for new manga to come out :frown:

naruto shippudden is the shit.


also, your son will Not learn japanese, he will read an pay attention to the action but thats all. just remember to much of looking at a screen is No good... in the end, developmental disorders can also happen from watching tv and things alike, the computer is worse then the tv, tiring out eyes, for a young kid its not good over 45 min a day

maybe show him the manga. it has more artistic qualities, but get the actual manga's, you could probably get the whole thing for cheap,


this is what i would do personally. my child wont watch tv often

Lol well, right now there is a small filler arc with kakashi and itachi in the ANBU back in the day... its the best naruto filler arch ive seen. Danzu is Such a piece of shit

and honestly the manga is on fire right now. The end of the series is near naruto has the senjutsu of the sage of the six path's and sasuke has the rinnegan. I cant fucking wait for the next one to come out

thats cool you guys watch fairy tail, reading the subs is definitely mentally invigorating. good test of concentration cause if you zone out for even a second you might miss something.

You could do your child a favor and get him something less shitty than anime.
Why set the kid up for even more failure than he's already probably going to experience in his life?
