I used to know a lot of people that were really into dragonball.. I haven't even seen more than a couple mins of it.. not long enough to even form an opinion on it either way.

I can't stress how good that is

While it's entertaining on a childish level, it's really not the best starting anime to form a basis on

Jeez umm ever heard of princess mononoke or ninja scrolls? 2 of the best anime I've ever seen. Follow the ninja scroll sequels if you really like it. I bet you will. Lots of blood in ninja scrolls. And Princess mononoke has got to be one of the best story lines.

Princess Mononoke was awesome and birthed many Hayao Mizaki (shit I think I spelled that wrong) fanboys (I hate that word, but it's apt)

Ninja Scrolls I've been telling myself I'll see for the past four years of so

Anime is Good but Manga is better. After all most anime series were first manga.

Used to be a huge dragonball fan. In fact I have all 42 volumes of the comic in Japanese even thought I can't read a word of Japanese. I've grown out of it now I guess.

I have read tones of manga, after all there are hundreds scanlated online. I barely remember most of them.

Ones I currently follow: Naruto,Berserk,One Piece and Blade of the immortal.

Akira

Great flick! I watched that the last time I was on lsd...but it got kinda gross near the end when Tetsuo starts to morph into that giant ball of flesh.

ok i found this posting while nosing through someone elses list of postings, but please let me ring in. this post started out with a vote for trigun. as you can tell by my avatar im a huge fan of the $$60,000,000,000 man.
when i was 5 years old i was at the drive in with my parents, and i watched Cruella De Vil walk through that front door with her wild hair, and that long cigarette holder, and i fucking fell in love on the spot. 25 years latter no other cartoon character had had that kind of affect on me until one night i turn on adult swim, and there he is "Vash the Stampede". again i have falling in love with a cartoon. i want him to do very bad things to me.
so put me down for one vote for trigun

i really would love to read the manga for Berserk. the anime was great, but leaves off kinda weird. i know the manga goes on after the series ended and i would love to find out what happens next.

that anime is fucking weird. never watch the last episode on LSD ... insane i tell you.

I also watched a lot of Dragonball as a kid, so that's probably why I could appreciate it a lot more. Just because people like Dragonball, Dragonball Z and even GT, it doesn't mean that we're automatically DBZ kiddies. Have some compassion! lol :goodmorning:

When I really got into anime in elementary school, I'd rent like 10 tapes from the local movie store for about $2. It was amazing. My life was complete. Got to see some nauty tenticles and learn about space anatomy too, which was unexpected but definitely welcomed at the time.

I remember loving Slayers. That was a dope series. Slayers Try and Next (??) are something I haven't seen, but I really should. I liked watching Lova Hina when that came out because I was kind of a hopeless romantic and loved the art style. Pretty funny steeze too.

I love Miyazaki’s movies as well! I have the subbed version of Howl's Moving Castle which I promised to watch a few months ago, but haven't had time. Anyone know what you need to play OGG files? I've installed the filters, et al. I wouldn't mind watching this stuff if I could find the damn time.

K-Lite Codec Pack comes with all you need to play pretty much anything and is packaged with Windows Media Player Classic which is my favorite program for viewing movies.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

I also loved Slayers and Love Hina and I know you're going to like Howl's Moving Castle.

I'm going to have to recommend Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu - I tried to find a screen that captures how crazy the show is but it's harder than I thought. Just believe me this show is bizarre.

Basically the pink girl goes around tormenting the boy with blue hair and nobody believes him when he tells them all the strange stuff she does. At one point she swallows him whole and he ends up in a strange world of millipede-cats and stuff, it's great! Sort of in the style of Ranma or the original Dragonball, just fun anime.

I also really liked Nausicaa, I had stopped watching anime for a bit and I rented that and it got me right back into it.
