How's this for calcium carbonate when casing?

Calcium Carbonate

Can this be used in my 60/40 Coir/Verm casing mixes in lieu of crushed oyster shell? It comes in coarse, medium, and both. If it can be used, which should I get?

get the medium and then grind it to a powder.

If it says calcium carbonate then you can use it. It is probably not too strong if it used in fish tanks. I would email the company and get an exact pH. I would get it as fine as possible so it can mix easier with casing.

just get a bag of oyster shell from a feed store, they use it as a chicken feed suppliment to increase egg shell hardness. its like 10 bucks for a freaking 50lbs bag.

I can't find the damn oyster shell anywhere!!!

Oh well, I guess I'll give the company a ring and find out what the pH is.
