I wouldn't want to be immortal. Life is painful enough as is watching your loved ones die. To continually have to watch people you care about die, while you remain alive, for eternity would seriously suck. I suppose if you could make some family and homies immortal too that might be

for perspective:
-so far in the known universe there are over 100 billion galaxies

-there are more planets then there are stars

Right, more like eternal suffering.

I don't think people really truly realize just how long immortality really lasts... let's face it, if you're immortal, most of those years you will probably end up suffering with some sort of disease or disability. The longer life you have, the way more exponentially likely you are to end up in a car crash (all of which you will survive no matter how extreme and drastic it is). You will also likely live with cancer for a very, very long time, since everybody past a certain number of years would get cancer. Who know how many years you'd have to suffer before they came up with a cure for it.

You are right rhave, the correct word was "irrefutable", but I'm glad you got the right one.

Here are my thoughts:

Immortality is a concept, created by human beings. So it can only be conceptualized within our (human) known imaginary limits.

If one choose to be immortal, then that would be in terms of human knowledge and reality, even if you lived longer than ALL of the humans, it would still be a concept that is a HUMAN concept and still has boundaries.

NOW, if you were to be the human to discover another intelligent lifeform. You would be immortalized in history as what could be one of the most famous people, ever... The technology and level of information that we could learn from another intelligent alien life that had evolved to a state that they could send WHATEVER message that could travel all of those millions or billions of light years... Do you know how fucking smart they would be???

I would choose to meet the aliens.

If I confirm the existence of Aliens, does that necessitate their interaction with our society afterward?

If I refuse to reveal it does that mean that aliens will irrevocably remain secret to the rest of humanity until my death?

Your choice dude.

If it was me, I would rather meet another intelligent life on OUR terms, where we could learn as much as we could and potentially interact with the rest of them. Before they come to exploit our planet. Because, if they are anything like humans they will exploit their own planet before they come looking for other places to visit.

That's not proof, that's an educated guess.

If you're immortal but can get diseases like cancer you'll probably just end up brain dead at some point, so no suffering.  If you can heal enough to never lose your ability to feel pain you'd presumably heal from whatever is inflicting the pain. You'd probably stop really being affected by loved one's deaths after a few centuries of seeing them die. I can't imagine there's any sort of pain you wouldn't just get used to eventually, if you were forced to remain conscious and alive, it becomes the norm, just as eternal ecstasy would. We need more specifics on what sort of immortality this is.
Intelligent and life are human created concepts just as much as immortality.  You didn't specify ET life would be ultra advanced and benevolent, if they were advanced wouldn't they most likely, based on how life here behaves, treat us like animals or plants, pets at best.

Biological Immortality

This is what I mean, not turning into a God or vampire, or something like that.

Basically, you won't die from natural causes.

When you same biological immortality do you mean like a Hydra or would your cells stop dying and reproducing? Could still become brain dead and be a zombie? When you say natural causes does that include violent death? Is it only supernatural things that can kill you?  For this purpose is your mind biologically bases or some sort of spirit like thing that would continue to function if your brain/body was dismembered/destroyed?  It'd be kinda cool to retain conscious control of the atoms that used to be your body even if you got vaporized.

I'd want to meet those aliens. Then I'd be famous & in a way, live forever anyways... nobody would ever forget my name. I'd be in every history book, every science book, there'd be movies about me, interviews, I'd probably get a medal, a wax statue, Rolling Stone cover. Like nobody could ever beat my story. "Oh you fought a bear & killed it & then raised it's cubs & taught them to fly!? Well I discovered aliens exist bitch" BOOM.

Exactly... Although, it might be fun to keep the alien as your secret slave and sell off it's technology and become famous that way. Fuck the alien, I'm going to take credit for it. Keep the alien locked in a cave or closet. Use sexual favors to get new information/technology from it. Sell to silicon valley for a billions of dollars... etc.

sound's pretty straight, at least if you could maintain your memories and consciousness on reverting, otherwise it's pretty meh, might as well just clone yourself or have kids.  I think the first immortal person would be just as famous as the first person to discover ET life.

Alien life simply a neural cortex in a superconductor tube that's coiled tightly to an atomic level so that it generates an A/C field. It's powered by nuclear fission. It forms naturally in outer space out of carbon, conductor, and some radioactive material. It can be tiny smaller than visible. For example Busch beer comes with supercomputers that obliterate food in your stomach. Busch doesn't like it so they counterfeit their own beer without the supercomputers. It can move stuff in another galaxy. It can make a human immortal. It can see farther than the seen universe. It can keep the sun lite by moving hydrogen into it. I'm trying to create the stuff check out my post https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/29134332
