Nerve Pain
    #19688882 -

So I've had horrible nerve pain in my legs for 4-5 years now(mainly behind my right kneecap) and after and MRI and several different doctors appointments I still haven't been diagnosed with anything. Has anyone else had experience with debilitating nerve pain that can give me advice. I take opiates quite frequently for pain relief and of course they help a great deal, but it's also obviously not a good long term fix.

My guess is posture, like something you do often with your right leg.

I had several cortisone shots for sciatica recently and that helped.

Losing weight has also eased the pain. Yoga and stretching is good too.

But it's hard to figure out what approach to take if you don't know the cause of the pain.

Curamin might help, or curcumin+piperine

I dont really remember off the top of my head, I think nerve pain is tricky.

Fish oil, exercise, stretching, and cannabis might all benefit as well.

Have you tried massage therapy or been to a chiropractor? That may help.

As a massage therapist, I suggest this option first, because it is the least invasive. I would seek the help of a chiropractor before the help of a surgeon, just do your research and make sure your DC is credible. I have clients who have told me before thy visited my boss (a chiropractor) they were in so much pain they hoped every day to have an accident that would result in their death. And through chiropractic care they found relief.

If you choose to see a chiropractor, make sure they allow you to look at your films and explain to you what they see and make sure they explain to you why they think they can help you.

It depends on the Chiropractor.

It depends on the massage therapist.

It depends on the physician.

Not everyone will find relief through the same things.

I can say I found relief from chronic pain through chiropractic care.

Not everyone can say the same.

But I would suggest trying everything you can before allowing someone to put you under the knife.

every physical therapist ive spoken too, as well as x ray technicians, nurses, and surgeons all have said very Bad things about chiropractors. they have NO business treating nerve pain. if anything they will help you slip a disc

sounds like sciatica

get ahold of some lyrica

there are some stretches you can do too to move that nerve from getting pinched

Well, I don't agree with this statement because my actual experiences in my own life and working in the health care field (not just what other people have told me) have led me to believe the opposite of your opinion, but I don't care to try and make you agree with me, either, because frankly I don't pride myself on "being right" or "winning."

I am not going to hijack the OPs thread with some stupid debate that doesn't even matter. I am sure the OP is intelligent enough to research his/her options regarding what strategies he/she would like to try to deal with the nerve pain.

OP, I hope you get better soon

I went to a chiropractor for my neck pain, didnt really seem to help or do anything noticeable. Just one limited experience so take it for what its worth.
