How does an individual take advatage of tax havens and fiscal paradises?
    #19685302 -

I read that half the money in the world is hidden in overshore bank accounts in order to avoid taxes.

It always seems to be the rich or corporations that take advantage of them. How can a regular joe take advatag of them too?

Anybody has any experience with this?

You hire a good accountant that is knowledgeable about tax havens.

An average Joe doesn't have 100s of milions of dollars.

What are you trying to save - 45 cents?

You'd spend more than you'd save in taxes.

These tax shelters have significant overhead and startup costs.  It might cost $100k or more to set one up.  Of course, that's a bargain if you're paying 2 million in taxes....not so much if you're paying $5k.

Patlal, if you want to save some of your money, then start having some of your roommates give you their rent money in cash. Whenever you spend money, try to use cash as much as you can.
