It sucks that a lot of black people are raised badly, but seriously if they or anyone from the hood keeps looking up to gansters they will get no where. Black people just continue their cycle of hatred and not taking blame for what the real problem is. This is obviously generalized, but even black people talk about how they're mad about the statistics and want the young black folk to change their way. I have black family that is moving to a school district with a higher percentage of whites and they told this to me as a positive. They feel their kids will stay out of trouble easier.

It's not racist to see the statistics and come to a simple conclusion. I believe it's fear of being racist that clouds peoples minds. Yeah I get that black people usually have to go through more shit growing up, but get the fuck over it. They shouldn't be treated differently, they are capable of changing this situation.

This is sad news though, hopefully it gets better as I get older.

Apparently you have not been following statistics, historically black people have scored very poorly on tests for a long time, so yes this is relatively new and a phenomena that needs to be reported.

It's interesting to note just how much progress has been made in the black community in the past 10 years, if you follow nationwide statistics more and more are entering university than ever before, and it seems that they are the largest population that is exponentially reaching higher and higher achievement levels in many aspects.

So, of course it's news-worthy, that is, if you have been following nationwide stats and been paying attention to history. Which apparently, you haven't.

Because people committing crimes and shooting are actually news, they report when Caucasians do it as well and the feel good stories get reported more if the subject is a minority and not less.  Stop looking for racial bullshit that isn't there.

I think the article is comparing black students in DC relative to black students in the other parts of the country.

1.  MENSA title?  I don't believe there is a MENSA title, just membership.  Do you realize that all that says is that she is smarter than 98% of 4 year olds?
2.  That is only comparing districts
3.  The Florida bar exam is not the NY bar exam.  It is impressive but not overly so.

"According to an article published in 1997 in the American Journal of Medicine, about 74 percent of sexually active Americans--nearly three out of four--have been infected with genital HPV at some point in their lives." HPV is a form of genital warts (different than herpes) According to this study, 3\4 people have them and many of them don't even know it.
