This is just your perception of time while on a mind altering drug.  If a third party were to measure the passage of time while you are stoned, they would not detect any difference even though you would swear time is moving slower.

Yes, but the question is, WHY does it change your perception of time? Is time located somewhere in the brain? Is it everywhere? Is it just a learned concept?

Perhaps it has something to do with the possibility that there is no objective benchmark for the subjective perception of duration.  That objective and subjective time are both relative.  This would definitely jibe with Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity.  No absolute time.

So someone who has not taken a drug would not experience any change in hir perception of the passage of time, but the kid who ate 300 mikes of acid perceives what would be one minute to the observer as an hour to him.  It's simply different frames of reference.  Neither perception of time is superior to or more correct than the other.  Time dilates.

Relativity.

What I have to wonder is, what is it in the brain, on psychedelics, that is moving at high velocity, exactly?

This!  What if we take that mechanism out?!  What if we find a particular drug that messes only with it!?  It's so fascinating!

Ever hear of the guy that was stuck in slow motion??  I believe it's on "Through The Wormhole".  He had a brain tumor that apparently effected this part of the brain and this caused his perception of the world to speed up and our perception of him was slowed down.  Scary that our brains completely have full control over us.

Time is everywhere. It is part of the dimensional system we exist in.

Each point in space contains time and at least three other dimensions that we are aware of.

We have come a long way in our understanding of time.
Long ago the year was defined as one revolution of our planet around its parent star.
The month was defined as one revolution of our moon about the earth.
Now we use atoms to tell time at even finer of scales (frequencies).

I think the best solution should answer if space-time is quantum or classical in nature. In other words, is the fabric of space-time grainy or smooth at the smallest of scales?
