Self conscious about scars?
    #19484748 -

Back in my senior years of high school, was the days when I use to socially skate with friends and so forth. Over this period of time I obtained many scars and some of which are noticeable and raised. Recently whilst slightly anti-sober I hit up a skate park with a friend just for laughs.

In this time I managed to fall of which resulted in a nice fresh scab to my left forearm right on the elbow joint. As this wound has matured I can see a raised red scar forming which is really getting on my nerves. It takes me back to my high-school days where I became really self conscious about my raised scars and lived in regret of even skateboarding at all because of it. I know this is somewhat of a rant and I know I'm making a big deal over nothing but how do you guys deal with your self conscious imperfections.

I'm covered with scars. the largest is about 20 inches long. I'm not self conscious about them at all. Hell, a lot of them are tied to interesting stories.

I have a lot of scars too, though mine aren't from skating.

Whenever I'm feeling self conscious about them it's usually because I'm around people I don't know, and someone is staring .  Sometimes it takes the edge off to tell a story about how you got the scar to begin with.  Taking away the mystery takes away the power, in a sense.

For instance, I have a big scar on my belly from a brown recluse spider bite.  That's always a fun story.

It's probably not as bad as you think. I have two humongous keloid scars on both sides of my forearm because I had surgery from when I suffered a compound fracture from skateboarding. When I was younger, I used to make quick and easy money by doing modeling jobs. Only once has anybody ever commented negatively about my scars. Out of maybe 100 or so (paid) modeling projects, only once was I ever denied the job because of my scars. Most people actually don't even notice it, unless I'm exposing my arm in a certain way under a very particular bright light.

Unless the scar is somewhere really visible like on your face or something, I personally wouldn't worry about it. I haven't even thought about getting my scars lasered off, even though I easily could.

Plus, scars are like tattoos, they always tell a great story. For shits and giggles you could even tell people that you got stabbed in a bar fight, or bitten by a walrus or something. That might make your scar fun.

You should consider every one of your scars as a battle won, a moment of time that you conquered and immortalized. Some scars can be trophies, others can cause shame, but they all have one thing in common; they impart memories, lessons, wisdom, pain. They come in so many forms. All I know is that the ones that hurt the most are the ones that aren't visible.

I've only got one i'm self conscious of but it looks weird as fuck. It's like a big jelly been on my upper thigh where i peeled my skin off with a belt sander. Fortunately my shorts cover it. As far as skating scars go, i wouldn't be too worried about those. Pretty sure everyone has a couple scars, and skating ones usually come with awesome stories

Yeah scars on your elbows and knees form skating is not so bad.

I knocked out a few teeth and had to have 4 root canals from on day of skating.

Never jump off the bleachers. The board landed in my mouth. I had several stitches in my up and lower gums. I know have 2 dead teeth (not including the fake one) from that accident.

Other mouth injury I got was when I was a kid on my tricycle playing a flute I feel on it and ripped out the roof of my mouth and had to get that sewn back on.

That is my first memory or when my scum bag father tied me and my mom down and gave us both matching facial scars above the lip. " to prove he owned us"

I was about 3 when this went  down.

I also have a facial scar  above my eyebrow  one on my chin and loads of random burn scars on my arms.

Just learn to live with  them.  Give not a single fuck. Scars are there to prove that you have actually lived

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

you shouldn't let it bother you, scars are kind of cool. but if it really does bother you, you can buy some products that help diminish scars. there's bio oil, i think that's more for acne scars and stretch marks, i'm not sure. but look into it, there's tons of products out there for scars. cocoa butter also helps even out skin.

Scares fade dude. Don't worry about it. I have an obsession with my scars. Been skating ever since I was 5 years old and I'm proud of every fuckin one of em. The weirdest though Is my knee is nothing but scar. Haha, i ripped all that fuckin skin off losing my footing on a longboard going down a steep hill. Dragged it behind the board down the hill, still didn't fall. :feelsgoodman:

Yeah, I don't see the point about getting self conscious about scars, especially when they're from something as cool as skating. As long as it's not from something embarrassing, and even then if someone asks just make up a badass story

I mean unless like a scar on the face, that would suck, but unless it's a really big, noticeable one. I don't think it should be a big deal or anything to worry about.
