Perusing this site opens up an interesting discussion.

It seems in a number of states, as well as federally, it's not so much the cost of execution, but the cost of pussyfooting around it.

Executing that man has ended his ability to harm anyone else.

A poster above me said that locking him in solitary was a reasonable solution to this problem, I disagree. An acquaintance of mine was placed in solitary for having a fresh dermal when he was booked. They didn't have the tools to remove it, and it was considered an open wound. 3 days in he ripped it out, went to infirmary for a few days (a costly expense to the state) and was returned to genpop after it healed.

That is a unique case, and took place in a county jail, but I felt it was worth mentioning.

same, I hear overdosing on morphine or "hydromorphone" is very unpleasant. As little of a time as 25 minutes is to overdose compared to an hour or so, it's still very very unpleasant, and therefore I see this more as unjustified torture to inject a man with enough morphine that he slowly over doses then I do see it an execution.

I'd rather be hung myself

I love how when capital punishment is involved, people always question "the extreme horrendous crime the other person perpetrated and the pain they deserve to have inflicted on them." What a completely asinine point of view, if that is a correct way of thinking, then maybe it was ok for Saddam Hussein to gas thousands of people to death, I mean who knows what crime they committed and what punishment they deserved. The fact is, I don't like crime in my country, and executing a man is a crime. If it wasn't, then I'd say it's ok for us to go find this rapist, beat him half to death, drag him through the streets for a few dozen blocks, then hang him from a tree, and slit his throat after 10 minutes JUST IN CASE he didn't die hanging.

Don't people understand why citizens aren't allowed to do executions? Why is the state? And what of the possibility they executed in an innocent person wrongly convicted anyway? I mean do we have a cam recorded video of him doing this? A far more fit punishment would have been to throw him in prison in general population and let all the Aryan brothers and Crips and what not beat and rape the shit out of the guy before gang shanking the guy to death. Instead some psychopathic government ass hole gets to press some buttons and execute the guy who himself deserves to be thrown in prison into the general population and raped and shanked a few good times

The death penalty is stupid.  There have been several people who were exonerated from death row with DNA evidence.  How long till the government kills its next victim?  The solution lies in policy change that will reduce the inmate population so it doesn't cost so much to keep gang members and murdering fucks alive.
