All fictional:
Ok so here's what I did. I had 4 mycobags going, 2 had big ass shrooms in there that just HAD to be picked. One other one had a couple small starts, the last one has nothing at all. Keep in mind that these are my first ever shrooms. I've never grown, seen, or eaten them before.
I washed my hands, cut open all the bags, and picked off all the shrooms and aborts, being careful not to try to touch the block of substrate. I held it in my hand with the mycobag bottom. I put the shrooms on a plate with 2 paper towels under them next to a fan to dry. By the way, fuzzy mycellium is SO SOFT!! It was growing on the stem of the shrooms. Feels nice!
Anyway, I sprayed the plastic bin with lysol and wiped it down w/ a paper towel. I put perlite in the bottom and poured cold filtered water from my brita filter in there. I mixed it all up with my hand and it's pretty moist, but cold. I put the blocks right on top of the perlite and I have the lid on top, but not snapped on.
Here is a picture of the fruiting chamber
Is that chamber, and the method I used, gonna be ok??? I'm worried that I fucked something up and that contams are gonna get in there. I read that you don't have to sterilize the perlite.
Any tips for me? I have 2 bags of verm, maybe I can do something with that (dunk and roll???). I have yet to get a spray bottle but I will have to do that tonight. I will probably do 1:10 peroxide:filtered water and spray the sides of the tub and the perlite itself.

Fuckin sweet! I didn't mess anything up. I didn't even read any directions, I just did it, like second nature. I've read so damn much about it already that it's hammered into my brain. But everybody, for their first time, always feels like they left something out.
Glad to hear I got it right the first time. Thanks!!!!
PS.. when I fan, I just take the top off, fan the air with the top, and then put the top back on?
I'm so excited to see this thing continue. This should be legal, it's fun as hell! Like having a pet.

It is one of the most exciting, interesting, and rewarding hobbies I've ever picked up. It really is too bad that it is illegal.
