help id'ing

my friend told me that he found some mushrooms growing the other day and i thought they might be psychoactive, but since i've never picked them before i thought i'd ask before we kill ourselves eating them.

they were found growing at the base of the tree in southern west virginia.
the caps are orange, convex, almost coming to a point at the top.
stems are orange.
bruises "sky blue, almost white"

sorry i don't have pics or more info, but i didn't actually see them and he doesn't have a camera.

so can you give me anything? all i really need is a starting point.

EDIT - yes, i saw the other thread on orange shrooms, but that one said that they didn't bruise and these did.

I suppose there is a very very small chance they could be gymnopilus's of sorts, but I wouldn't take the chance with your lack of IDing knowledge. It could also be a deadly galerina, a make you sick Jack 'o' Lantern, or from that description, any number of things. Anyway, If you wanna good ID you will need to post more info, Unless someone knows of a orange mushroom that bruises sky blue... and dont think there is one :P

For a start, get a spore print.

Cut one in half vertically and let us know how the gills attach to the stem (It has gills, not tubes?). Do they run down the stem or do they get close to the stem then have a sort of notch upward?

Is there a ring on the stem of at least some of them?

Happy mushrooming!
