Boss aint nothing to be rustled about, its just how that dude slang is from where hes raised.

Some people say champ, slugger, boss, papo, jefe. Others say my dude, nigga, yo, playa.

These are all acceptable

Boss is used a lot by asshat texicans and other lowly southern scum. It is part of the everyday speech there but the usage is the issue. You can tell when they are being dis-respectful by the tone and attitude.
Something like whada ya need buddy or bro or man or dude is much more easy to understand. I.E. What do you need boss says I'll demean to call you boss even if I think you ain't and are lower than me.
