Ive never had a boss who literally seems like he hates me Ive only been there a few weeks but it seems like he has an issue with me because im a full time student taking 15 credits this semester and I have to work around my schedual
Im working my ass off, I do the best I can, Im great with the customers, but nothing pleases this guy The employees tell me not to worry because thats just how he is. Apparently he has a track record for being a stern asshat who doesnt get along well with many employees.
Im paranoid he may let me go before my probation period is up, but the shift leaders assure me that almost never happens, and not to worry about it
Anyone else have a boss who is a complete asshole. I mean.....I tried to thank this guy for my job and he says "Well we shall see if your gonna make it through the probation period "
There was a miscommunication with my school schedual and I accidently canceled a shift he gave me because I thought I was out of town, and he said "Dont worry about it we will have Bonnie cover it, Its better that way anyway"
WhAT DO I DO! I guess if I worked for 40+ years at a grocery store id be a hard ass as well?

He's just mad because his life sucks, and you'll probably be doing better than him in a few years after you have your degree.

That may be.....but in the meantime I need this job, and hes got my psychologically tricked into thinking I can get fired at any moment Which is true, but when he seems to not already like me, what kind of message is that sending
Luckily I dont deal with him on a daily bases, in fact, more often than not, hes not around when im working. But when I do deal with him, hes a jerk

managing a difficult boss is a skill
find out what kind of ahole he is and then use it to your advantage
i use a boss management tek that i call
BISCUIT THEORY
if your boss thinks of himself as a "big dog" then odds are he likes to bark a lot, gnaw on you, and piss all over his territory...
keep a biscuit in your pocket for the hound..
this means to RESERVE COMMUNICATION... by holding back something, you have the opportunity to DISTRACT your hound dog of a boss.
he comes by and opens his mouth to gnaw on you or bark a lot...
and you pop that biscuit in his mouth instead.
what nuggets of info you use to accomplish this will depend on where you work, what kind of Ahole yer boss is, and the other conditions that surround the issue.
but always have that biscuit in yer pocket... if you dont use it, it might get stale, SO GET A NEW ONE FROM TIME TO TIME.
the boss comes by to bark and you point out that the air ducts need to be cleaned, its not a BIG DEAL but it could be a fire hazard...
now the boss feels empowered, he has something to go piss on THAT ISNT YOU.
again the exact type of biscuit is up to you... i favor institutional distractions over personal distractions..
if the boss comes to you and says you suck... and your only defense is that Billy sucks too, or sucks MORE than you... then you lose
when the boss comes by to say you suck and you point out a weakness in the ORG that the boss can effect THAT IS NOT HIS FAULT..
then your biscuit will work, OFF HE GOES
and he becomes your ally, he will (slowly) start to decide that you might not be as much of an idiot as his OTHER employees.
oh and PS
almost ALL of our bosses really do think that each and every one of us is an IDIOT...
it has to be true or else WE would be the boss... not him.
BISCUIT THEORY...
oh yeah, one last thing, you gotta pop the biscuit in his mouth BEFORE he bites you, a boss, like a pit bull, doesnt EVER want to take his mouth off of something that hes already bitten...
so feed him that biscuit
-------------------- yall be good to each other

If I were in your shoes I would respond to his negativity with a smile and some silence. Not saying I'd ignore a direct question, but if hes just mouthing off like an asshat the let him revel in that. Almost anything you say is only going to vindicate his attitude in his eyes. You might even gain a little respect if you take his remarks in stride.
