Unless they're on camera
I honestly don't believe this video was real. Any real cop would get pissed off, tell him to turn off the camera, and be pissed off. Probably go ranting and raving, maybe ask him to step out of the vehicle, arrested him on some BS charge. The camera at this point would have fallen and broken and the footage lost.

And that's why the law will fuck you if it gets a chance. You need to learn to assert your rights.
Rights and the law don't mean shit when a cop has a gun pointed at you.

It's pretty difficult to get into a situation where the cop has a gun pointed at you when you're filming them, especially at DUI checkpoint with tons of people around.

the camera guy is an asshole, i'm sorry. DUI checkpoints are a good thing. If you're intoxicated, don't fucking drive. Random drug sniffing dogs I'm not okay with, but asking someone a simple question have you been drinking? no? okay, good night is a damn good way of preventing unnecessary deaths of innocents who get hit by the drunk/intoxicated driver.

Boss for sure. Say for instance, this guy had a couple, but kept his cool the same way. Cops say they smell alcohol on him. This goes down way differently. He's callin his wife to bail him out.

Good point. I understand the point the guy was trying to make too but sometimes you just have to keep it real and not be a complete dick. There's other sober people behind you trying to get home so answer the question and move along asshole.

No, that was awesome. And very disrespectful to the police.
The cops can ask you anything you want. You don't have to answer except to tell them your name.

I would have let him go too if I was the cop.

She should have let herself be intimidated by that.
She wasn't intimidated. She was trying to determine if he was drunk. She determined that he was not, correctly in my opinion. She made a good call by not wasting time on him.
In the same situation, a lot of cops would have given the driver a sobriety test, claimed he failed, and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of drugs and taken him to the station for a blood test. After bailing out of jail, paying $500 at the tow yard and waiting 2 months, the case would be dropped. It is likely that is what would have happened if he had not been recording them.
In my state, they dont even have to take you down town to take your blood. The get a warrent and the ambulance shows up and takes it.

Yeah, how dare they try to keep drunk drivers off the road, letting ones who they determine aren't drunk go. Those bastards.

Personally, I think there should be a Breath Analyzer in every single car... would fix the problem asap.

I cant believe she let him go. I mean, i KNOW he was doing what was within his rights. kudos for him,
but for real? She should have let herself be intimidated by that. When law is really needed you dont wanna know that people like that have supervisor positions
So what should she have done? Violate the guy's rights on camera? I'm glad there are people like that in supervisor positions, she knows how to do her job correctly.
There are a lot of things she could have "gotten him" for in that situation, if she really knew the law and really suspected that he's been drinking, as it seemed the first cop did, she could have easily arrested him, even if she couldnt force him to answer

One thing is to monitor that law is being obeyed by randomly choosing members of what becomes a "control group" and another is so stalk citizens, there IS a big difference

I don't think the first cop so much suspected he was drinking, it seemed he didn't know how to handle someone who wasn't answering his questions.
How could she have easily arrested him lawfully? What law(s) did he break? Maybe she could have detained him or something, but I don't think you can arrest someone at a checkpoint for asserting his or her rights. Maybe I'm just ignorant though
