Cool, let's invade all the countries run by insane dictators that also have bleach and ammonia in them.

Those are two components of a very deadly binary delivery system. Just wait till suicidally inclined Iraqi soldiers are mopping in a closed room.

It does not matter. That is what we were told would be found. I don't think anyone expected to find a bunch of missiles loaded up with chemical agents.

Remember the term "imminent threat"?

What "chemical weapons" do you think fit inside a suitcase?

How about a suitcase containing 25 kg of mercury or depleted uranium? That would be enough material to make several million people sick from chemical poisoning. But only if all of it can be efficiently distributed and deposited into the victims' bodies, of course.

I seem to remember an outcry about a certain country using depleted uranium shells in various global conflicts. hmm.

You mean the term that Bush never said?

Blair said it. Repeatedly.

Didn't Powell say it when he agreed with the "exquisite" british dossier that was later found to be complete horseshit?

I don't know if Bush himself used those exact words, but he basically descried Iraq as an imminent threat. you do know about the so-called "Bush Doctrine" of pre-emptive strikes against imminent threats right? what about all the talk about WMDs and Iraq trying to aquire nukes and all that. did you forget what this war was supposed to be about?
hint: five months ago, it wasn't about "fighting the war or terror"

"Before September 11 terrorism was viewed as something ugly, but you lived with it," Wolfowitz said.

Saddam Hussein, too, "was viewed as something ugly," Wolfowitz said, but also as "something that was for the Iraqi people to take care of."

After September 11, 2001, "terrorism looked different," to the United States and the American people, Wolfowitz said.

"Saddam Hussein, who played with terrorists, and had weapons of mass destruction, looked much more threatening to United States than just to his own people," he continued.

Saddam Hussein, who played with terrorists, and had weapons of mass destruction, looked much more threatening to United States than just to his own people,

What does "played with terrorists" mean? The CIA found no evidence he was involved with terrorism which is why they concentrated on WMD.

And where are the WMD?

So because Osama Bin Laden and a bunch of saudi arabians attack the WTC, you invade Iraq?

Sorry, I don't see the logic.

Blair said it repeatedly. Why were the UN inspectors withdrawn so quickly if the threat wasn't considered imminent?

What are you talking about?

Blair said it Bush didn't. Blair said it based on dodgy intelligence at the time he believed it to be the truth.

Explain the logic to me then.

I know Bush might say it "changed" the political mood. Others say it was simply a convenient smokescreen.

Tony Blair is your problem. My President planely stated that Iraq was not an imminent threat, and that we were going to war to stop him before he became one.

Explain what to you? Before September 11th the Bush Administration was willing to tolerate Saddam's regime. After 9/11, the possibility that Saddam could or would help terrorists, including but not limited to supplying them with chemical/biological weapons was too much to ignore.
