Bottled ink

I got myself a Lamy safari recently. Not only is their ink cartridge proprietary, it is also expensive, and the blue isn't just that nice. I got the converter, and I am looking for ink for it. Either suggest a brand or a color... Thanks!

Even for our broad collective expertise, this is a little esoteric but I hope someone can help you out!

Assuming that's one of those wicked expensive pens, it may be more important than some who read this would realize to use high-quality ink (perhaps like sports/racing cars suggest using premium gasoline).

Naw, man. While I will concede fountain pens often go for 1000+, this one was $25 on ebay... I was looking at one brand, but I don't know if they are any good... Perhaps you are right, but I can hope someone here writes with something more than a 5 cent pencil or a 20 cent pen...

Thanks mush, each pen is different and needs a different type of ink to work at it's best. Some nibs let ink flow easily, so they need "thicker" ink. Others let it flow much less, so they need more fluid ink... I was just hoping someone would know...

Haha we are of a kin, brother. In fact, I was just scheming with my dad as to what to do about my $15 Moleskine pen breaking.

I used to write (on my iPad) with a $100 bluetooth stylus. Then black people stole it. I thought I was racist for a little bit since I don't have any black friends, and then I noticed wait some of my close friends actually are black, so since I apparently don't file people away based on skin color unless they're adversaries, I'm thus NOT RACIST :kingcrankey:

But dammit I want that stylus back...

And also on that note, I mainly wrote the last couple years with Sharpie Ultra Fine Point markers (if you're gonna write, WRITE LOUD lol) but I've come to love those pens and pencils with metal shafts, like the G2 if I'm remember right (which I can assure you I'm not... tequila is with me tonight, I'm afraid).

Lol. Yeah, I too use the G2 (which has a plastic barrel; no tequila for me tonight I am afraid... :sad:). In fact I am using it right now, but I find that pens in general are so impersonal... I feel to really enjoy writing, it must be unique and take a certain degree of skill... The fact that fountain pens are antique does not bother me... I mean this is coming from the guy who writes papers on an old mechanical typewriter... But when I use a fountain pen, I feel so much more free... I don't have to push on the paper at all, and it just glides... Plus I can mix and match just about any color I want...  I just like the idea of a high maintenance writing utensil. It may be less convenient, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a great icebreaker, and is much more fun to use than an ordinary pen.
