Caffiene as a pesticde

So apparently caffiene does some pretty strange stuff to spiders. Would it have any effect on spider mites? I suppose not but wikipedia says it has been used as a pesticide. Anyone have any experience?

Interesting, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to dissolve some caffeine pills in water and try it out. I wonder if it might be less effective than say nicotine though.

I also heard that the active ingredient in hot peppers capsaicin is also some sort of fungicide I would like to do a side by side.

I haven't tried caffeine on bugs, but I may try putting a few crushed caffeine pills into some pesticide soap, with neem and tobacco added as well, to see if it helps me with the armies of mealybugs the ants keep bringing up. Please do update with how the caffeine works as a pesticide. I could always use more things to kill the bad bugs
I've heard caffeine works to make slugs/snails stop eating, so I mixed isopropyl alcohol and caffeine to make a slug spray. I think the caffeine was a bit overkill though, as the alcohol killed the slugs on contact most of the time anyway.

I know one guy who pour sometimes coffee to his palm tree and said it start to grow better than ever after it gets randomly a drink of coffee mixed to water. It probably kills some bugs and fertilize the plant.
Also back in the day like early 1900, in there was very common way to use coffee when watering plants to keep pests away. Many old people will do this even today to prevent mites and pests nesting to plants during winter.
I tried coffee to plants but not so much that treat only with coffee to pests, only old people has said it's good to use to get pests away.. Sometimes they mix grind coffee to soil in small amounts to let caffeine and others get in to plant system or something.. Don't know for sure how it works but if it has used over 100years as pesticide, it should work little bit.
I have heard about chili pepper active increment as pesticide but I think it should be used mechanicaly. Atleast plant is self use it as protecting the seeds from birds and mammals.
It may work to spider mites cause spider mites infested chili plant doesn't get much of a scarring to actual chili peppers, I have seen them on chili only at leafs, not anywhere else.. However, never used or tried to dissolve capsaisin to water and spray it on top of cactus to get rid of mites. It just need something like small amount of alcohol to get capsaisin dissolved to water. I have read only internet sites and talk about chili pepper as pesticide as well as coffee as pesticide.
Sometimes I have heard coffee mixed to water in ratio of 1:10 or less and then sprayed on the leafs to get bugs away. This coffee tek is still used by some old people there, or they know if plant is not fine cause of pests they give a drink of coffee to the or spray coffee straight to plant leafs..

What plants are infested? small cacti? Put them in a bag, blow some tobacco smoke in it (without inhaling it) and close it for 3 minutes. Your cacti are now insect free. This is THE BEST method for making cacti bug free, smoke is "dry". If you have an infestation during dormancy period spraying cacti is a tad risky.
A water extract of tobacco works great on normal plants. I don't use it on edible plants though. Stinging nettle extract should also work, I think this is due to the formic acid in it. It must make their tiny bodies dissolve.
