Here's how things look today. Of course this is only a small sample of everything that was affected but they all appear similar to this. Real disappointed in myself for not noticing this problem before it got way out of hand.

The opuntia pads were picked in Austin, TX and appeared fine until a week or so after I got them home. They got covered in mealybugs and today I don't see any traces of them. Sprayed the hell out of them with the two bottles you see in one of the pics. I may go pick up some neem oil so I will have it on hand. Have a feeling the scale won't be eliminated just from one or two spraying sessions. Once again really appreciate all the help from everyone. You made it much less stressful to deal with this nonsense.

That's the weirdest scale infestation I've seen in quite a while (but scale is not a problem in my collection), I would blame red spider mite for that kind of damage. Are you positive that you have a scale problem? RSM could easily do that AND spread over all your plants in a matter of days...

Yeah it's definitely scale. Maybe RSM as well but the scale is quite obvious on many of my other trichs. I can pick off the eggs and was able to ID them by pics I found on the net.

I have noticed scale on one Pedro and one loph graft so I tried to used a tooth brush to wipe some off, but actually now loph has holes on its skin Maybe I brushed too hard but this is just a warning to anyone thinking about trying it out

You probably used a hard bristle brush and/or too much pressure. Use a soft bristle brush and don't apply too much pressure that will damage the cactus. Be gentle.
